5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful for Parmesan and Chocolate
Using this disk and my Cuisinart is so much easier than grating hard Parmesan on a Microplane grater. I use this whenever I need more than a couple of tablespoons of hard cheese. Since I usually make Italian food this disc has been a great help in my kitchen.

If you hate grating your own Parmesan on a microplane give this a try, I think you will love it...

2.0 out of 5 stars not worth the effort to grate hard cheeses
I use a lot of parmiagiano cheese and thought it would be easier to grate with this disc. The cheese gets stuck at the top of the grater disc and you have to constantly take the top off the processor and free up the cheese to continue. I think my OXO hand grater does a better job with less effort.

It is also nice for grating dark chocolate so that it melts more quickly in a double boiler.

I highly recommend this product.

If you are a lover of a Russian cuisine and like potato pancakes (Draniki) it's wonderful to grate potato. I couldn't find anything on a market for a long time that would grate potato in a food processor as fine as this blade. Now I can make potato pancakes in 10 min. Perfect for it!

I have no idea whether this works well or not but was advertised for 14c Cuisinart models. It does not fit in the Elite Collection version - Beware!

2.0 out of 5 stars Fine Grater Disc not foo fine!, February 25, 2009

The bad thing I found out about this grater was the fact is does not have holes which go through to the other side as do other discs. Therefore, what happens is that anything passed through the shoot comes out mushy. The ideal grater disc would be to have the same design as other discs to release the product through the bottom. Take heed Cuisinart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect grated potatoes for Lithuanian-style potato pancakes and potato kugel, June 13, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Cuisinart DLC-035TXAMZ Fine Grater Disc, Fits 14-Cup Processor (Kitchen)
The main reason I bought the 14-cup classic (non-Elite) Cuisinart was to automate the result obtained by grating potatoes on the fine grating side of a hand box grater. With the box grater you get a fine mush of potato fibers and considerable liquid to drain off.

I tried using just the stainless chopping blade but the resulting consistency didn't satisfy.

I bought and tried the "standard set" of additional discs including the fine shredding disc (I wanted this disc plus the 2 mm slicing disc anyway). The result was a mass of tiny peels with too little liquid release. I then used the chopping blade on these peels which made for a "chunkier" consistency which was good (and pleasantly different) but not perfect.

Finally, I got this fine grating disc. I was concerned whether it would pulverize too much, but, instead, it proved PERFECT. Nice finely textured potato fibers and lots of liquid to drain off. To test, I added some beaten egg, pre-sauteed golden translucent chopped onions and some salt and pepper. Add a bit of flour or some parsley if you'd like. Eaten with sour cream, these pan-fried potato pancakes were yummy perfection!

Other potato types might work well also, but I utilized the Yukon Gold variety (I noticed that the potato mush created using standard white potatoes seemed to turn brown much more rapidly after grating than was the case with the Yukon Gold).

As others have helpfully pointed out, be aware that, unlike other Cuisinart discs, there are no holes which go all the way through the disc. The lines of spots seen on the photo are 'pits and peaks' which do the grating job. Instead of going through the disc, the potato mush created spins to the outer rim and down into the container.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected, January 21, 2011
This review is from: Cuisinart DLC-035TXAMZ Fine Grater Disc, Fits 14-Cup Processor (Kitchen)
After reading the review from Oksana, I decided to purchase the blade especially for grating potatoes. Unfortunately my grated potatoes were like mush and didn't even resemble grated potatoes...looked more like cream of wheat cereal. The cutting blade is much to fine. Kitchenaid makes the perfect blade for grating potatoes, however, I don't own a Kitcheaid Food Processor...sigh! I'm back to using my hand grater :(

I thought this would be the answer to grating my carrots for salads and carrot cake. Boy was I wrong! There are no holes on the underside of the grating plane. Instead of fine strands you get pulp piling up on the top of the disc. How this product made it out of the design room honestly baffles me. Shame on you cuisinart.
It is the worst compliment to an otherwise dream machine; thats why it baffles me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good-bye Kraft!, October 15, 2010

For years we used Kraft grated Parmesan cheese... that is, until I looked at the label. Yuck!
Now I buy fresh Parmesan cheese and use this grater in the Cuisinart. I also purchased a 2-Liter Frigoverre Glass Pitcher with locking top and store it in the top shelf of the frig. So Easy to prepare it, store it, and access it for cooking!
