Not made for sweet potatoes.,

We've been eating more sweet potatoes and yams as healthy alternative to white potatoes. Usually I slice them and drizzle with olive oil and bake, so I thought slicing them as fries would be more appealing to kids (and less expensive than the frozen ones at the health food co-op). I used this disc in my Cuisinart Prep 11 plus. It turns out that yams and sweet potatoes are alot more firm than white potatoes. The light gold colored ones sliced up a little better than the dark red ones, but both colors were a bit of a hassle, getting stuck in the blade and jamming it up.
Works great on white potatoes though, and I'm looking forward to using it on other vegetables for stir fries and salads.

Definitely works,

I bought this for my hubby as a Christmas gift because he is the french fry maker in our house.....for some reason I thought the fries would be thick cut fries, but they are more like McDonald fries (long and thin). So if you are looking for Micky D fries, this is your blade. If you want them a little thicker, then I don't think this is what you are looking for.

The Disc I Use More Than All My Others Put Together,

This review is from: Cuisinart DLC-836 6-by-6mm Fruit, Vegetable and French Fry Disc Fits 7 and 11-Cup Processors (Kitchen)
I love this disc - and I use it more than all my other cuisinart discs put together. It makes beautiful julienned vegetables, tender zucchini sticks that I can saute with garlic & parsley & toss with whole wheat pasta. And I love to julienne root vegetables like potatoes, turnips & rutabaga then chop the sticks into cubes on my chopping board - they are then absolutely perfect for my home made soups. And it's the best way I've found to cut onions in my cuisinart. I don't like to whiz onions with the blade because they end up too finely chopped. But if I put them through this julienne disc they mostly come out just the right size for sautes, soups & sauces. This disc is also perfect for getting celery to just the right size for soups and sauces. If I didn't own this disc I'd use my cuisinart way less often than I do. It was an expensive addition but an absolutely worthwhile one.

The disk makes really cute slightly curved (due to blade rotation) french fries. Good quality, easy to use product.

This disk produces shoestring fries. If you want something larger you'll need to look elsewhere for your preparation tool. To date I have used it only to prepare sweet potato fries but I plan to try using this disk to cut chicken when preparing a meal like fajitas.

Adds interest to soups & stews...,

I opted to use this blade for carrots and other veggies to pique interest in soups and stews where one expects the usual rounds. I also used it on raw potaoes intended for traditional corned beef hash and found that after a good rinse, they cooked up and incorporated well in this recipé. I liked the results as well for 'au gratins' and other casseroles where one expects boring slices, for which I have neither the time nor patience. I like "chunky" dishes which have textures and varying discerable tastes.

This important blade was not included in the 10S model I bought. The fries end up short due to the limitations of the feed tube, but they're nice and uniform and a good thickness.

I was hoping to be able to cut fries a little bigger with this blade but I undertand food processors have their limits. It is a good product. Sweet potatoes get stuck in the blade easily so you must clear blade a lot.

Works great as a julienne cutter for vegetables, but not really a french fry cutter when using sweet potatoes. When using to cut sweet potato french fries, they come out way too thin and are more suitable for ash browns than frys. I will be keeping it, but will be also getting a mandolin for french fryes instead, Oh well! Win some loose some...
