This detachable stem for the Cuisinart food processor may look kind of fiddly, but mine has lasted longer than the bowl and the bowl cover. A little metal ring finally rusted and fell out, after at least a decade of use--in fact, this is the first time I remember ever having to replace the stem, and I've been using a Cuisinart food processor almost ever since they began to be sold in this country.
I think you'll find yourself replacing the slicing and grating disks more often than you'll have to purchase a new stem.

Cheap replacement for cuisinart stem. First one lasted for 15 years, hopefully this one will last just as long. Looks like OEM.
