How did we ever get along without food processors? This three-disk set enables you to expand the use of your machine with several terrific time-savers. The fine grater is used with especially hard foods such as nutmeats, Parmesan cheese, ginger, and horseradish, and the resulting uniform size of those tough-to-grate fibers are wonderful for adding to all sorts of recipes. The julienne disk gives you uniform 3-by-3-millimeter strips of vegetables or medium-hard cheeses, which is a great way of adding decorative touches to salads and stir-fries. Your guests will think you spent hours in preparation. For dealing with large quantities of tomatoes, squash, or firm fruits, the 6-millimeter-thick slicing disk is the way to go. Each disk is dishwasher-safe, and of course, needs careful handling--they are supersharp, so watch your fingers! --Jill Lightner

Customer Reviews

They are easy to clean up.

They look like they are excellently made and so far, I haven't encountered any flaw in the discs design and the discs are doing what they are supposed to do.

These extra blades I bought for my new Food Processor are really nice.

The standard set is invaluable, but there are still many things I couldn't do. With this 3-piece set, I now have almost every blade needed to gourmet my way to food heaven. The julienne disk lets me do things I lack the patience for, while the thick blade lets me slice things like lettuce and tomatoes at a decent thickness, rather than the skimpy 4mm standard blade.
The fine grater is a good touch for finesse. Try doing a whole tangerine or orange by hand without scraping your fingertips and cursing the night. Blood orange never was a good color anyway.
Seriously, the set is a nice addition to the standard set of Cuisinart blades.

I own both standard and specialty disc set, purchased from Amazon on September 6, 2011. I bought the sets for my Cuisinart DLC-2009CHB Prep 9 9-Cup Food Processor, Brushed Stainless, also purchased from Amazon. At first I was hesitant to purchase the standard disc set because of the review by 'A customer' in 2004, but I cross-checked with Cuisinart website what the sets contain and decided to take the risk and ordered anyway.

The standard disc set has: 3mm slicing disc, fine shredding disc, and 6mm x 6mm julienne disc aka french fry disc. The specialty disc set has: 3mm x 3mm julienne, 6mm slicing disc, and fine grater disc. As for the shredding disc in the standard set, it does have smaller holes than the "standard" shredder that came with my 9-cup processor, which means it makes a finer shred. My 9-cup processor came with a medium grater and a 4mm slicing disc along with the stainless steel chopper blade and plastic dough blade.

I carefully inspected all the discs and found out that the thickness of the cut a slicing disc can make is embossed on the disc itself, that is you will see 3, 4, 6 embossed on 3mm, 4mm, 6mm slicing discs, respectively. Even the graters have F and M embossed on them for the fine grater and medium grater, respectively. I got mine as per description in both sets. They look like they are excellently made and so far, I haven't encountered any flaw in the discs design and the discs are doing what they are supposed to do. I'm having fun using them and prep time in the kitchen is not only fun but fast and easy. If you are thinking of getting all the discs for your 7-cup, 9-cup or 11-cup (says on my 9-cup box that all discs for 7-cup will fit in it), these sets are a good deal... much cheaper compared to purchasing the discs individually.

I bought this hoping to use it to prepare Matchstick-size vegetables. The julienne disc included in this set does nothing different than the shredding disc which comes standard with the machine. It works fine on harder foods like potatoes and carrots(rendering a "julienne" very similar to a shred.) It absolutely pulverizes any water-based vegetables like peppers & squash. I experimented extensively with different foods and I only got the perfect julienne on very hard foods.
The blades are also difficult to clean.
For my money, I prefer the "french fry disc". But, if you like shoestring fries, this is the disc for you.

The blades on these discs are heavy, sharp and well made. But you need a detachable stem accessory to use them for my food processor (a DC-5 series). The stem did not come with the discs or the processor, is not currently available from Amazon. I finally found it at the Cuisinart website.

The set contains medium shredding disc, 4-mm slicing disc and 6x6 french fry disc. But medium shredding disc and 4 mm slicing discs are already included with the food processor. The only new thing in this set is the french fry disc, so you do not need the set, do not waste your money, just go and buy french fry disc, if you need it. It will cost you probably two times less. By the way, amazon.com stopped selling the french fry discs separately, and this stinks.

Discs are very good, excellent quality. However, you do need to know how to use them, as the documentation with them is poor.

These make meal prep MUCH easier and are also easy to clean! I have made salads and salsa in the bowl with changing out the blades for varied texture. Start with the driest ingredient first so the contents are less soggy. If you slice up a salad and have too much liquid, put it in a salad spinner and whisk away the moisture, it works great!

I would add that having more blade discs can be a hazard if simply kept in a drawer, so think about getting an extra holder when ordering. I got several holders on amazon for very little $$$ and free shipping to boot. Beats losing the tip of your finger while shuffling in a drawer for the right disc!

This is a fantastic price for 3 Cuisinart disks, but BEWARE, this item has several different product descriptions, and indicate that different/incorrect blades are included in this set!

What IS included in the "Standard" option: fine shredding disc, french fry-cut disc, and medium slicing disc.

The "Amazon.com Review" portion of the product description (for "color: standard") is correct. The "Product Description" listed right below the Amazon.com Review incorrectly indicates that the medium shredding disc is included and omits the medium slicing disc.

If you select the "specialty" option for this product, it outlines what is included in both the "specialty" variety and the "standard." The "standard" description incorrectly indicates that the julienne disc is included in place of the medium slicing disc.

I had been hoping to receive that julienne disk, so I'm disappointed to receive the slicing disk instead, but it's still a great deal -- even if I were only wanting to get the fine shredding disc and the french fry disc, it is still cheaper to buy this set than it is to buy the 2 discs separately.
