5.0 out of 5 stars Good Gadget
I saw this same model at Macey's for a lot more money. It's easy to use and doesn't take up a lot of space.

1.0 out of 5 stars Looks good on the counter but doesn't open cans
This electric can opener is a struggle to use. The opener just locks up and will not move or it chews up any paper label and gets it into the partially opened can. The whole system depends on a cheap piece of plactic that attaches the arm to the motor casing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Looks good on the counter but doesn't open cans, October 1, 2010
This review is from: Cuisinart Deluxe Stainless Steel Electric Can Opener
This electric can opener is a struggle to use. The opener just locks up and will not move or it chews up any paper label and gets it into the partially opened can. The whole system depends on a cheap piece of plactic that attaches the arm to the motor casing.
I've tried numerous gyrations and grips to no avail; it just doesn't work. There's a lot of sloppy play in the arm, which is not adjustable, and I have not successfully opened a single can w/o using great force and a manual opener to finish the job. My wife hates it and will not/cannot use it.. I will probably take it apart and use the motor and gears to make something that at least will work. DO NOT BUY THIS OPENER.

1.0 out of 5 stars Plastic at Fulcrum Point, Between Lever and Base, June 2, 2011
This review is from: Cuisinart Deluxe Stainless Steel Electric Can Opener
This product is engineered to fall apart in your hand after three or four months usage. Product is NOT suppose to do that, but when I looked more closely the top housing is plastic and the fitting on the back of the handle (behind the magnet) is plastic. The plastic fitting goes inside a plastic-receiver housing, on the upper part of the base unit.

The idea that this is a "stainless steel" or "deluxe" product is deceptive and misleading advertising. It is designed to trick or dupe even the most discerning consumers, at point of sale.

The engineering specifications, going out to a sub-contractor or manufacturer from Cuisinart®, is being sent to China, but understand it is the U.S. based firm who is calling for plastic at the fulcrum point (where handle attaches to base unit). This is the most used, moving part. It should not be plastic, at the engineering side of the blue-print, going out from the main corporation. That part has to be metal in order to provide the correct force and leverage, enough to pierce metal and hold the fulcrum point steady while the top of the can is being cut open. Plastics are prone to wear-down more rapidly at such a high-point of usage or leverage.

Save yourself some head ache and disappointment. Find a unit that has metal parts at that connecting joint.

1.0 out of 5 stars Failed in less than 3 months, January 8, 2011

Even though it was more expensive than the other brands we chose the Cuisinart can opener because of good reviews. Immediately the cutting wheel started coming off the front. Awkward to get back on. Maybe it is supposed to come off to clean but it kept coming off whenever we used the opener. Then we noticed it would not open anything but small cans no matter what we tried. Within a couple months the thing stopped working altogether, and with the Holidays we didn't get it returned in time to get a full refund.
We feel cheated.

1.0 out of 5 stars attractive but useless, November 27, 2010
This review is from: Cuisinart Deluxe Stainless Steel Electric Can Opener
After only 1 year I have decided to save myself the almost daily frustration of trying to use this can opener only to revert to a Good Grips hand opener to finish the task. This Cuisinart does not efficeintly grasp the lip of cans and gets caught in chewing up the label instead. After two or three re-trys I may or may not get a good grip and get a can opened. Life it too short...I am tossing this piece of junk.

Good service from shipper. Can opener is effective but is a little difficult to position on can at times.

1.0 out of 5 stars What a waste of money!, December 28, 2011
This review is from: Cuisinart Deluxe Stainless Steel Electric Can Opener
Stay away from it! NEVER buy this! Works worse than a "no brand name" can opener bought from a drugstore. It works a little, then stops, so you have to push it, turn it manually, if you are lucky, after all this tricks it may continue to work. Usually I am not so lucky, so it just stands there, can hanging from it, so I have to take the can of and open it manually! I don't trust this brand for anything else, will never recommend it to anyone and won't buy anything made by Cuisinart!

This review is from: Cuisinart Deluxe Stainless Steel Electric Can Opener
I bought this can opener just over three years ago. If I take it out of the drawer to use it 20 times in a year, it's a busy year for me in the kitchen. I tend to use fresh food and rarely use canned products. I bought the can opener because I had very good experiences with Cuisinart products in the past, but this one is terrible. It jams up, throws my wall breakers off, and shreds the paper at the top of the can. I have to force it to turn with my hand, and it is beyond frustrating. I feel guilty putting it out for Goodwill to pick up, because I know that the buyer of it will test it at the store, see that it works and has a sharp cutting blade, but will feel horribly disappointed once at home expecting it to perform. I called their customer service before writing this, and I was given no help but to tell me that because it was out of warranty, there was nothing they could do. There was no expression of concern that this product didn't perform. I think Cuisinart will no longer be a product line I will seek out. And the damned thing is made in China.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dont waste your money, November 6, 2011
This review is from: Cuisinart Deluxe Stainless Steel Electric Can Opener
I got a bargain on this particular can opener, paid only ten dollars for it. It didnt break my heart or my bank account when I threw it away last week. I have a can opener thats 16 years old that I keep in our camper and it still works. This can opener is a peice of junk and definately not worth $80,thats for sure.
