The griddler has been a great addition to my kitchen. I have had it for about two years now and use it about once a week. My family loves burgers, paninis, and pancakes. Making pancakes is a breeze when you open it up allowing you to cook six pancakes at a time. Panini sandwiches come out perfectly crisp with the center warm and gooey. Burgers cook up perfectly in about 7 minutes. The only con I have is that the plates are shot. The smooth plates have broken down to the point where I need to replace them. It makes me wonder if we are eating some of that non-stick surface with every meal...

The heating elements never got very hot regardless of the temperature setting. Pancakes took 3 times as long to cook, and I finally pulled the bacon and sausage off and cooked them on the stove. I also tried Paninis...it took forever to melt the cheese! And I experimented with a chicken breast that ultimately was thrown away because it remained raw in the center while the outside was dry and overlooked. I would take a George Foreman grill over this any day. I really wanted to like this grill. The only good thing this grill had going for it was how easy the plates were to remove and clean.

This is by far the most versatile gadgets I have purchased! We have used it almost every meal virtually every day since we bought it a few weeks ago.

The interchangeable nonstick grill/griddle plates are a snap to insert and clean. It heats up almost instantly, and it is SOLID! I have even accomplished to grill and flatten the impossible 'Dagwood' style Paninis (about 5 inches high to start) in this thing. The trick is using a hotpad and leveling the hinged lid perfectly over the too-large items to keep the contents slipping out. Very cool, very convenient, and nice retro look too!

My only complaint about the grill is that when the lid is opened during or after cooking, there is ample opportunity for grease or other debris to fall from the upper cooking surface and down onto the counter below. It's quite possibly an unavoidable consequence of the flat design. It does make for a little more clean-up effort than my old Foreman grill. It is remedied, however, by a little forethought and placing a towel behind the grill.

All told, I'm quite happy with the purchase.

We have owned this appliance for about two years now. It has performed well and I feel it does it well. We have always hand washed the plates and there is no degradation of the non-stick material at all. I even took it to work for a month and least ten different people used it daily without issue. My only complaint is the printing on the controls. We cooked turkey burgers right after buying it and the grease erased the lettering. If this unit failed now, I would buy another.

I will be brief:

It does make good sandwiches

1. The lettering on the unit has rubbed off in less than 45 days. The temperature and setting print have completely rubbed off.

2. The plates are rusting and do not get clean unless scrubbed. Placed in the dishwasher and even after drying, rust spots appear.

4. The handle is not protected and you get burns from accidently touching it.

5. the grease elimnators (cups) do not catch all the grease.

6. Finally, there is no stopping the grease from dropping behind the unit when you raise the lid to remove the items.

I know returns are not possible but am thoroughly dissatisfied.

Owned only 1 month before it became defective. Turning on high or sear will within 5 minutes result in both lights blinking green and no heat being produced from either grill plate. This lasts for several minutes until the unit cools WAY down. It can take 20 minutes to cook what my old GF grill would cook in 5 minutes. I've had good luck with Cuisinart appliances in the past but I'm having to up on this grill as a waste of time and money.

I'm very pleased with this product. It cooks well and cleans up easily. Does a great job on chicken breasts - leaves them juicy without drying out as much as cooking on a gas grill. Tried salmon fillets and over cooked them a bit - user error on that one. Will take awhile to figure out how long to cook certain items. One bonus is that you can usually insert an instant read thermometer into the meat without opening the grill.

I have had this for 2 months at it really is a very good griddle. I have used it to cook breakfast (eggs, bacon, and pancakes), hamburgers, sandwiches and even steak. It heats and cooks really well. You just get used to the different temp settings. Cleaning is not as easy as taking the griddles off and putting them in the dishwasher. Sometimes you have to pre-clean them.

I'll echo the comments of a couple of other reviews further down... this is a great idea with poor execution. We purchased this grill primarily for use as a griddle, and we had high hopes for it. The panini/grill functions would have been a bonus for us. What we found is that it's pretty much useless as a griddle. The thermostat shuts completely off and the plates cool down so much that the food stops cooking - bacon stopped sizzling, and pancakes stayed very light. Even turning the thermostat up didn't immediately seem to turn the heating elements back on. We tried it twice over the course of a weekend, and gave up on it. Too bad, this seemed like such a great concept.
