2.0 out of 5 stars It works if you like sediment in your coffee!
We've always used paper filters, but one of these came with our new DCC-1200 (or old Mr Coffee maker died after a year, so decided to go with Cuisinart quality this time) so we decided to give it a shot. I find it interesting that Cuisinart includes this "permanent" gold tone filter AND a starter pack of paper filters with the DCC-1200. Are they providing consumers a...

My wife really likes this filter, it has really eliminated the need for the paper cone filters we used to use. The filter cleans up really easily, is very easy to use, and works great; in addition my wife insists the coffee even taste better. We have noticed that a trace amount of the extremely fine sediment makes it through the filter, it you leave about two tablespoons of coffee in the bottom of your pot you will be fine.

I bought this filter to go with my Zojirushi EC-DAC50 and it fits just right. This filter has a bit more plastic than my last gold filter. This causes it to trap a few coffee grounds in the crevices and makes a bit more work when washing to get the grounds all out. On the plus side, the gold mesh is fine and pretty much prevents the grounds from leaking through into the brew.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cuisinart GTF-4 Gold Tone Filter (4-Cup), June 26, 2007
This review is from: Cuisinart GTF-4 Gold Tone Filter for Cuisinart 4-Cup Coffeemakers, Gold/Black (Kitchen)
I really like this product. It is easy to use and clean and it saves me some money. I especially like the fact that I do not have to worry about running out of disposable filters anymore. The coffee is brewed through the filter nicely w/o any coffee grind left behind. I highly recommend this product.

Well made. Has a little handle on it to make it easier to pull out of the coffee pot. Cleans up easily by hand or in dishwasher. It's nice not having to use paper filters. They can't be good for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars great filter; not #4 though, June 7, 2010

This is a great filter. I've used it for about a month now, no significant flaws, just a great mesh filter. Of course this filter leaves more particles in coffee, but come on, it's a mesh filter so obviously you get more particles than paper filters. Just don't drink the last sip with 'mud' in it. I washed it with soap about 2 or 3 times, just rinsing and wiping is good enough for everyday use. And it has little handle, which sometimes is handy.

But.....

This is not a #4 filter! It is for 4 cup, not #4 coffee cone or maker. I guess it is about the size of #2. So, if you have non-Cuisinart coffee maker, keep this in mind. I use a cone to hand drip the coffee and I only make about 1 or 2 cups at a time so it doesn't really matter though.

Very easy to use, very easy to clean, very happy with the results. It's so nice knowing that I'll never have to go without my coffee because I forgot to buy paper filters. Very much worth the investment, especially since I got such a good price. Thank You Amazon once again!

Now I have to wash the filter rather than toss it like the paper. Still, I won't go back to the paper.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Coffee Tastes Better!, May 24, 2011

I don't have to buy paper coffee filters any more - YEA!

Not only that, but the coffee I make tastes better too. I don't know why, unless the paper filters have some kind of chemical residue that affects the taste, but I noticed from day one of using this filter that my coffee had a less chemical taste to it. The taste difference isn't subtle, either -- it's quite noticeable. I wasn't expecting that, but it was a very nice bonus to it all. All in all, this permanent filter is well worth the cost.

You do not have to use this in a Cuisinart brand coffee maker. I use it in my Krups and it works/fits great!

No more buying paper coffee filters and the coffee tastes better too. This re-usable filter should last years and years. I highly recommend this item, if you have a larger coffee maker though, make sure to get the right size.

5.0 out of 5 stars if you're going green this is a good product, December 22, 2008

I bought this product because I was suggested it to replace the paper filters. It can be used over and over again. You don't get that bleach in you from having the filters bleached. The brown filters work the same but you'll be spending more money on the filters that you throw away any way so why not try this. Don't just rinse this out. Brush out the ground afterwards or it will clog. I was just rinsing it out but after awhile it got slow until I started brushing it out every day with my hand.
