Is this the same mixer???,
By A Customer
This review is from: Cuisinart HTM-5 SmartPower 5-Speed Electronic Hand Mixer, White (Kitchen)
How can this be the same mixer??? My experience with the Cuisinart HTM-5 SmartPower 5-Speed Electronic Hand Mixer was the EXACT OPPOSITE from the previous reviewer. While I appreciated many of the design features (swivel cord, open beaters, comfortable handle, easy beater release), I have abandoned its use. First, the slowest speed was much too fast to incorporate dry ingredients. I had to "pulse" it by quickly turning it on and off in order to keep flour from going everywhere. Honestly, I found little difference between the lowest and highest speeds. Second (and most annoying), even of the slowest speed it splattered EVERYWHERE. I could reduce the mess a bit by keeping the beaters perfectly vertical, but even then the bottom of the mixer would be covered with batter (along with the countertop). I tried to return the mixer, but I no longer had the box nor the receipt, so it just sits on my shelf. If anyone REALLY WANTS this piece of garbage, I'll make you a sweet deal!!

Do not Recommend,

This mixer broke down in the middle of Christmas cookies - and it wasn't that old. I purchased it a few years ago. The poor durability of this mixer in a brand that should deliver a better product is unacceptable. My old GE hand mixer lasted 5 times as long as this one did, and cost a lot less. I wonder about the quality of the motor if it could burn out in such a relatively short time. I do agree with other reviewers that the low speed was too high; no major differences between speeds 1-3; they were all fairly highspeed.

It is really quiet- you can still carry on a conversation or have someone else talk on the phone. It mixes really well. Low speed isn't as low as I would like, but it works. It does splatter a little with REALLY liquid stuff, but it isn't bad at all. Nice handle, light, good heft, and nice beater heads. One bad thing- there isn't much frosting left on these beaters to lick off; they're too thin for that.

At first I was happy with this mixer. My last mixer lasted about 10 years and cost very little. This mixer cost more, I thought was a good brand, and lasted only abut 2 yrs. Something happened to make one of the beaters turn sporatically and hit the other beater. Threw it away.

This review is from: Cuisinart HTM-5BC SmartPower 5-Speed Electronic Hand Mixer, Brushed Chrome (Kitchen)
The mixer seems to be nice, however, I expected a brushed chrome metal finish. Needless to say, it came thru as a SATIN SILVER PLASTIC. An extreme disappointment in the finish department. My last mixer was purchased at W.T. Grant Co. so you can guess how many years I've had that mixer. I was hoping this one would be a nice metal finish and last at least as long as my old mixer. Very misleading advertising. They could at least have written "FAUX brushed chrome".

great product while it lasts,

This has been a great mixer for nearly 3 years. Now it has developed the same problem others have described = the beaters don't turn smoothly, rendering it impossible to use. I replaced the beaters thinking one may have been bent. But they simply stick and won't turn whether in individually or together. I was thinking about replacing it with the same model, hoping this was a fluke. But seeing that other people have had the same experience, I'll find something else. Very disappointing.

Low speed is too fast,
By A Customer
This review is from: Cuisinart HTM-5 SmartPower 5-Speed Electronic Hand Mixer, White (Kitchen)
The lowest speed of this mixer is too fast for certain things (like pumpkin pie). Possibly if you used a very large bowl it might work ok, but when I made the pie the mixing got quite messy, with batter flying out of the bowl. Still need to use it more, so I'll see how it works with other consistencies. However, it would be nice to have one mixer that worked for everything.

Cuisinart HTM-5 SmartPower 5-Speed Electronic Hand Mixer,

This mixer runs too fast, even in it's lowest setting. The beaters tend to throw food out of the mixing bowl. Uncontrolable. Would not suggest purchasing.

Great mixer, but it is fast,
By A Customer
This review is from: Cuisinart HTM-5 SmartPower 5-Speed Electronic Hand Mixer, White (Kitchen)
My old mixer was about 30 years old, so I spotted this bargain and I love it. It is very easy to use, very powerful, and gets the job done. Like that other reviewer has noted, it is true that even the slowest speed of the 5-speed is very fast, much, much faster than the slow speed on my old one. However, all I use it for are mashed potatoes and cake mix and it's fine. I don't have a need for it to go slower and I haven't had a problem with it splattering on these jobs at all. Perhaps for other jobs, it is not slow enough, but for my basic mixer needs, it's perfect.

warranty? what warranty?,
This review is from: Cuisinart HTM-5 SmartPower 5-Speed Electronic Hand Mixer, White (Kitchen)
I bought this mixer on sale, at a department store & set it aside for future use. I was pleasantly surprised with the power...yet as others have noted, it was too powerful for wet foods...Does a larger bowl help? Rarely. I used this mixer for a little over a year and suddenly the left beater sputters and stops, rendering the whole mixer useless. I tried to e-mail customer service, several times...Always came back as an error. I finally made a telephone call.. a total waste of my time. The warranty had expired. Period. Would I buy another? Never.
