4.0 out of 5 stars Super powerful mixer
I have owned this mixer for two years and have had none of the problems cited by the other reviewers. The mixer is not too heavy and the beaters always stay in place if you put them into the mixer properly. My only complaint is that there is no "low" speed; at the lowest setting this mixer will give you stiffly beaten eggs in less than 10 seconds.

This mixer is not made of chrome, it is plastic with a faux chrome finish. The beaters are not extra large; they have a strange finish and bend easily. The so-called spatula is hard unbendable plastic and therefore useless as a spatula. I bought a white plastic hand mixer at a local store that had good stainless beaters and twice as many speeds for half the price of...

I bought a white plastic hand mixer at a local store that had good stainless beaters and twice as many speeds for half the price of this one. This is the only time I've ever been unhappy with an Amazon purchase.

1.0 out of 5 stars Utah Cook, June 9, 2006
This review is from: Cuisinart HTM-5CH Smart Power 5-Speed Electronic Hand Mixer-Chrome (Kitchen)
I received one of these mixers for Christmas, and have only tried to use it a couple of times. Not only is it too heavy to be comfortable as a hand mixer, but the beaters fall out if they are not pressed firmly to the bottom of the bowl.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT Mixer, Not Sure Why Others Have Had Probs, October 2, 2008
This review is from: Cuisinart HTM-5CH Smart Power 5-Speed Electronic Hand Mixer-Chrome (Kitchen)
I've had mine for almost eight years, and it's the best kitchen mixer I've ever used (and I've used a TON of them!). It seems several previous reviewers had poor success, not sure why, but I STRONGLY recommend it to anyone looking for a powerful and reliable mixer

It's very well made, and I've never encountered issues with keeping the blades in their sockets. Although first speed could be a little slower, it certainly doesn't cause food to "fly everywhere". It boasts an extremely powerful motor, easily capable of handling a double-batch of peanut-butter-chocolate-chip cookie dough, and to that same end, the mixer blades are VERY sturdy, having never bent or contorted during years of use. It is a little heavy for a hand mixer, but that's only a testament to it's excellent construction and robust power plant.

To cite a real-life example, I'm called upon to make the holiday breads and cookies for the whole family, and also for the annual church bazaar. In one nearly continuous marathon weekend each year, I crank out more than 25 lbs of cookies and some 200 loaves of cranberry bread (and mind you, not from a professional kitchen, but from a 4'x8' NYC apartment kitchenette!), all of which gets mixed with this mixer. It's used at least twice weekly throughout the rest of the year, and hasn't balked even once in all the time I've owned it.

1.0 out of 5 stars TERRIBLE, November 27, 2007
This review is from: Cuisinart HTM-5CH Smart Power 5-Speed Electronic Hand Mixer-Chrome (Kitchen)
I received this hand mixer last year for Christmas and I absolutely hate it. Its first speed is way too fast that whenever I use it, food flies everywhere. Please don't buy this!

I just bought this for $10.00, I hope that it's not as bad as the other 2 people say it is. It seems to be easy to clean and looks nice. Is a bit heavy, but as an extra, I'll keep it.
