5.0 out of 5 stars A Dandy Little Mixer!
My Kitchen Aid mixer died, and I thought I'd try the Cuisinart. Although there are few differences, what I like most about this mixer are the slightly longer beater blades. When mixing dough, the longer blades keep the dough from rising up the beater shafts. The handle is ergonomically designed to prevent fatigue. The beaters start up slowly to prevent splattering. I purchased this mixer based on the Cuisinart reputation. It did work, but was too loud to be comfortable using. It sounded like the internal parts were grinding on something. It also emitted an acrid odor that worsened with heavy dough. It even smoked after mixing cookie dough. Thinking it was defective, I returned it for another. The replacement was exactly the...

The cord swivels for both left and right-handed use. The touch-pad speed control is much nicer than the "push the lever" types. It's terrific and a good value!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Mixer!, July 21, 2003

My Cuisinart Smart Power 7 Speed Hand Mixer is the best hand mixer I have ever owned. I have gotten into the habit of reading the reviews of any small kitchen appliances on Amazon.com before I buy them, and boy I am glad I did this time too!

Powerful, sturdy and easy to clean are just a few of the good points for owning one of these great hand mixers. I have made cakes, whipped cream and the famous double batch of chocolate chip cookie dough and nothing stopped it. The LED speed read out is easy to use and read. It is also pretty light weight considering the power it has. The beaters are a lot easier to clean without the center post in them. They seem sturdy and don't look like they would bend or break very easy. Also a big plus is the swivel cord that keeps the cord from tangling.

I really do feel that you get what you pay for with kitchen appliances. It definitely is worth paying more for a high quality mixer that you use a lot then it is to buy a cheap mixer every year. I got this mixer as a gift less than a month ago and have used it at least six times. At that rate a cheap mixer would probably last me less than one year.
It is definitely worth the money for a person who does a lot of cooking.

I hope this helps you in your decision!

Good Luck,

Flo

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, April 10, 2003
This review is from: Cuisinart HTM-7L SmartPower 7-Speed Electronic LED Hand Mixer (Kitchen)
I researched several hand mixers before finally deciding on this one, and I do not regret my decision. This mixer is amazing. If you buy the $15 mixer from K-Mart you'll only be out $15 later when the motor burns out trying to mix chocolate chip cookies. I love the slow start feature and the digital controls. The mixer cleans up easily - just wipe and you're done! This mixer makes everything so effortless, from creamy mashed potatoes to home-made cakes. The real test came when I made homemade frosting and the motor didn't burn out and/or stink up my kitchen! Highly recommended. I'm getting one for my mom for her birthday!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Mixer, February 2, 2002

I have owned this mixer for a couple of years and am very impressed with it. (I don't use it for mashing potatoes...a Moulinex food mill is much better.) This past Christmas I put it to the ultimate test...I made dozens of tamales for friends and the Cuisinart 7 Speed handled the masa effortlessly. At work we use Hobart and KitchenAid mixers. I would say for home use the Cuisinart compares favorably to the aforementioned brands.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best hand mixer I've tried, February 2, 2003

They advertise that this mixer can handle a double batch of chocolate chip cookies, and that it can. I put it to the ultimate test with a double batch of some extremely stiff cookie dough, and it didn't miss a beat. Granted, it took some muscle power, but that's the same with any hand mixer. I never thought I'd say this, but I think it's even better than the brand new Kitchenaid hand mixer my sister has.

4.0 out of 5 stars Comfort, power and security, January 15, 2002

This review is from: Cuisinart HTM-7L SmartPower 7-Speed Electronic LED Hand Mixer (Kitchen)
I received the mixer as a Christmas gift after the giver had researched the product and compared it to others. I am very pleased with his choice. It is light, powerful and comfortable and safe enough for a 5 year old to use. My granddaughter had no trouble using it and the way it has a 'slow start' feature, ensures that the ingredients aren't kicked back out of the bowl.

5.0 out of 5 stars A pleasure to own and use., March 26, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Cuisinart HTM-7L SmartPower 7-Speed Electronic LED Hand Mixer (Kitchen)
For the past fifteen years I've been using a three-speed hand mixer that came from one of the local appliance stores. Using the Cuisinart is like going from a Piper Cub to a 747 jet. It is really a joy and pleasure to use. Because it's design is a little different from the previous 3-speed, it takes a few uses to get totally familiar with. But once I became comfortable with it, I could never go back to a lesser model. My only regret is that I took so long to get it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yep- an excellent mixer, May 9, 2003

This mixer is simply a great tool. Powerful motor, quality attachments (the wisk is great!). The placement of the trigger for ejecting the beaters is where a power trigger might be on a power tool, so sometimes I accidently push it when I really mean to push the on button... but it's still worth 5 stars for how much I enjoy it and how well it works.

It also emitted an acrid odor that worsened with heavy dough. It even smoked after mixing cookie dough. Thinking it was defective, I returned it for another. The replacement was exactly the same. I gave it away and replaced itc with a Kitchenaid 5 speed which is infinetly quieter and I find the slide speed swith less cumbersome than the touch pads.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great mixer before it broke, but replacement service rates A, April 6, 2005

This review is from: Cuisinart HTM-7L SmartPower 7-Speed Electronic LED Hand Mixer (Kitchen)
I searched and reviewed many mixer options before purchasing this one to replace and old work horse one I had had for many years (it literally burned out after over 15 years of use), I was pleased with its power and features, but sadly it broke just before a year of use. What I mean by broke is that it got stuck on the 2nd speed the up button got depressed and would not allow me to change speeds. It was enough to get me through the holiday season even on the slower speed - things just took a bit longer - so I can say for sure the auto feedback feature works well.

It was just over one year old when I called the warranty service # listed in the manual. The hardest part was getting through (rather long wait time to get a service rep on the phone) however; the service rep was very courteous and polite. Gave her my amazon.com purchase date and the serial number and she promptly gave me a RMA #. I was in the process of moving during all this and did not return the item until a week before moving. I gave them the new address in a letter that was sent with the item and it was about 2 weeks and a NEW mixer arrived at the correct address! (I was impressed that they read the information sent and did not just act upon what was in their system prior).

The new mixer appears to be the replacement to this model # (it is model # CHM-7) and has all the power and same features, I did notice they have changed the style and placement of the switches that had given me the problem - so I suspect this new model has been redesigned to remove the "problem areas" of the old. I was pleased with the products performance the first time and truly pleased with the fine customer service that I received when there was an issue.
