Let's Make Ice Cream ...,

I thought I'd document our first try in using the ice cream maker with this little video. I used the included recipe to make our first batch (and included instructions on the video). It was WONDERFUL. The directions say to "freeze it for 2 hours" when you are done mixing it in the ice cream maker, if you want it firmer, but we found it perfect just out of the maker. I have used regular "ice based" makers, and this one is about 50% of the noise of the one I was using. PLUS, it did not melt all over everything, or require the purchase of ice or salt. Things to make sure it works: Make sure the inside is solidly frozen Chill your ingredients Turn it on before you pour them in. As I ended my video - "It's as easy as it says!" * Some people have expressed a concern about it only being 1 1/2 quarts - but on lower fat recipes, I'm not always as happy with ice cream/milk that has sat in the freezer for awhile, so I find this the perfect size. We use 1 cup servings, and this makes 6 servings.

So far I'm satisfied with this product. It produces very good results in about 20 - 30 minutes. Easy clean up, easy to use. For people that think this product is loud, they must not have ever used a machine that uses ice. Overall, it's a very good purchase for the money. The only way I would give 5 stars is if something exceeded my expectations. So that's why I give it only 4.

This is my first ice cream maker, so was not sure what to expect. I'm on a special diet and cannot have sugar products and store bought sugar free ice cream isn't all that great, so I'd thought I'd do it at home myself. It works very nicely. You freeze the "bowl" for several hours first, then add ice cream recipe mixture, let churn/freeze, then eat. Took about 20 minutes to have it ready to eat. I'm very happy with the product.

Great low-priced ice cream maker,

When you buy this, you are buying a low-priced ice cream maker and it will have all the advantages and disadvantages of a low-priced ice cream maker.
First, the bad: Even though it says 1.5 quart, after you scrape the sides, the big stirrer, and the lid, you will be LUCKY to recover a quart of ice cream. I cannot imagine how little ice cream you would get from a smaller unit. When you stop the machine and get your ice cream, it will be the consistency of soft-serve. For those who like a more ice cream consistency, you will need to put it in the freezer for several hours, to overnight, but eventually you will get the hardness that you expect ice cream to have. I have read a lot of negative reviews about the consistency, but trust me...it can be compensated for. The only other gripe I have is that the stirring paddles are not rubber coated and do not press tightly against the bowl, allowing the ice cream to prematurely freeze to the sides. This becomes a much bigger problem when you start trying to make lower fat ice cream as the freezing point of the mixture will go up with less fat. This may not make sense to anyone that has never made ice cream, but you will soon figure out what I'm saying if you try it. Now to the good: Its cheap, has a small footprint, doesn't require ice and salt, isn't as loud as everyone says, and makes pretty darn good ice cream once you get the hang of it. If you buy this, you will soon be making ice cream that will make the store bought stuff taste like garbage, and probably a lot less sugar and fat and much less money.

I am very pleased with the results of this machine. It is a bit noisy, but since when are any kitchen appliances quiet anyways? My only gripe is that I wished the paddle would scrap down the edges better because the extreme cold of the container makes some of the ice cream stick to it. Otherwise you can't beat it for the price.

Excellent Ice Cream Maker,

I purchased a red one of this type less than a month ago and have so far made four flavors. They all turned out delicious in less than half an hour of churning and one hour of freezing, except if I included the blending and cooling time for the custard base. The motor is quieter than a mixer. The freezer bowl is easy to clean by hand and whatever is washable came out fine from the dishwasher. To save freezing time and avoid early melting, keep some freezer-safe containers in the freezer while blending the ingredients. A few things to keep in mind: If you want to save money, drive to your nearest grocery store instead. If you want to make sure you know what you are eating, learn to master this machine and read the recipes. If you don't want to get fat out of eating ice cream, invite your good friends and share a batch with them. You can start the machine half an hour before your guests come, pour the ice cream to a freezer-safe container, serve salad and the main entree, engage in a good conversation, and then have dessert.

Good experience,

I liked this enough to order another one for my mother-in-law. I can't think of anything bad to say about it. It does what it's supposed to do. I don't think it's too noisy. I am using it twice a week, making desserts better and less expensive than I can buy in the store. I use fresh cream from the local dairy, organic sugar and real vanilla beans. My kids love it and get excited whenever I bring it out.

My wife has a host of food allergies and ordinary, store-bought ice-cream is highly toxic to her. This machine enables me to make ice-cream that's free of milk, eggs and preservatives. I use a thick pudding made of arrowroot flour and soy milk, added to soy milk, sugar, a little vegetable oil and pureed fresh, canned or frozen fruit to make healthy and delicious deserts. Awesome stuff. I'll eventually get around to posting exact recipes to my website (don-guitar.com).

This is a great value. The product was very easy to use and it worked great. It is compact so it doesn't take up a lot of space like a lot of the other machines. It is so much fun to use this and your friends and family will really enjoy what you make.

I have had this product for about a month now and have no complaints. We have made ice cream and frozen cokes and both have turned out great.
