Product Description

Amazon.com Review

When the whole neighborhood brings the kids to your house, this extra freezer bowl provides needed flexibility by letting you make an additional batch of your favorite ice cream, frozen yogurt, or sorbet. Little assembly is required to use this extra bowl, as it's made to fit on the Cuisinart ice-cream maker. The bowl does not come with a lid for storage of your sweet creations, and so should be kept away from any heat source, and it's not dishwasher-safe. --Teresa Simanton

Product Description

Keep an extra Freezer Bowl on hand for making and freezing several different flavors of your favorite ice cream. Use this bowl with the Cuisinart 1.5-Qt. Ice Cream and Sorbet Maker sold separately. It's double insulated to keep your dessert ice-cold..

5.0 out of 5 stars So many more uses!, December 19, 2000
This review is from: Cuisinart ICE-RFB 1-1/2-Quart Additional Freezer Bowl, Fits ICE-20/21 Ice Cream Maker (Kitchen)
While I do have the ice cream maker, I ordered an additional freezer bowl to have on hand. It is helpful if you want to make two flavors of ice cream, or if you want to cool the warm custard for vanilla ice cream before you freeze it.

I have also used this container to quickly cool items (like Jello which must be cooled for a mousse, raspberry mousse comes to mind :) in a metal bowl. Place any metal bowl on the top of this container. It will be stable and the bowl will get ice cold. The contents will then cool very quickly.

Try this bowl to cool down custard when you are filling pastries. Just pour in the custard and stir with a spatula for a few minutes. Soon, you have creamy, cold custard to fill those pastries.

I recommend keeping one of these in the freezer at all times. There are just so many more uses! Use it everytime you need to cool a liquid quickly. You will love the results.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great buy if you are going to make a lot of ice cream!, June 26, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Cuisinart ICE-RFB 1-1/2-Quart Additional Freezer Bowl, Fits ICE-20/21 Ice Cream Maker (Kitchen)
Cuisinart makes it easy for ice cream lovers by selling extra freezer bowls! Having an extra freezer bowl is extremely useful if you are making large quantities of ice cream or you plan on making different varieties. According to the instruction booklet it can take between six to twenty-two hours to freeze the bowl. We usually keep one bowl in the freezer all the time, then when making a batch of ice cream we replace it with the extra bowl. The freezer bowl doesn't take up much space and it's easy to clean! Fantastic Buy!

1.0 out of 5 stars Let me explain..., April 21, 2002

I have had this ice cream maker for over a year. I LOVE IT. I have also had to replace the freezer bowl twice and the latest bowl (#3) is now unusable. In theory, the extra bowl is a wonderful idea. I give it 5 stars. In reality, when plastic is cold it is FRAGILE. The plastic that is the outer cover of this bowl is so fragile it will crack if you LOOK at it sideways. All three bowls have cracked. (My machine came with a cracked bowl which was replaced by the merchant.) They were not cracked by extra-ordinary measures. One slid out of the freezer when the door was opened (it dropped about a foot), one bumped the side of the stainless steel sink when I was rinsing the outside off under the faucet and one slipped from my hand and dropped a couple of inches to the table top. When they are cracked, the liquid that between the layers runs out and turns into a crystalized mess. For what it has cost in bowls ... and the original machine, I could have THREE of the complete ice cream freezers. All the other reviews were right on, the machine is so much easier than the old ice and rock-salt machines BUT the construction material of THIS BOWL needs to be changed. Instead of plastic it should be metal (it looks like aluminum on the inside) inside and out... and paint, enamel or, better yet, plasti-coat the outside. For right now, my ice cream comes out of a box or from the ice cream store or dairy store. Sadly.
