5.0 out of 5 stars Love it
This teapot is critical if you're an avid tea lover or a Teavana addict such as myself.
This brand makes the only teapot I was able to find on the web with a thermometer on it (I was pretty surprised), and Amazon sells it for the cheapest (expcept for a few other websites that were all linked to the same scam-company out of NY that never actually sends the teapot,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Thin bottom, January 9, 2011
I wanted this tea kettle for ages. I waited for the stainless version to come out because I like the stainless look in my kitchen and none of the other colors this came in suited my taste.
My husband finally bought it for Christmas. I like this bigger sized kettle and that it gives me the temp of the different teas that I drink. However, I would really have liked it more if the bottom of the kettle weren't so thin. The thin-ness comes off as cheap...and this kettle is not cheap.
Also, the temperature gage on the front is now clouded due to water getting ON it. It was not submerged...just water from the tap rolling over it when filling. Yeah, this could have been made a lot better, but I still enjoy it.

Update~~01/04/2012
I've had this kettle for a year now. I use it daily. However, since the bottom is thin and seemingly a separate piece, the bit of water that is inevitably left in the bottom of the kettle has caused a rust problem inside where the base meets the sides. This does not make me happy. If I had this to do over, I would try one of the coated enameled kettles NOT the stainless steel one. Even in the pictures, you can see there is a difference on how it is made or put together. Love the temp gauge and fast heating. I hope others have better longer lasting results with the enameled kettles. I'm updating this because I'm shopping for a new kettle.

I was weary spending so much on a teapot but I don't regret the purchase one bit, I make tea about every day now.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost great, October 13, 2009

Love the kettle and the helpful thermometer. It cleans easily and when you cook with propane and have very hard water, ease of cleaning is critical.

The only problem I have is that the whistler keeps falling out of the spout closure - usually into the kettle, sometimes outward... It snaps back in firmly but when steam is flowing the plastic closure seems to weaken or the metal whistler overexpands, forcing itself loose.

That flaw is minor and doesn't keep me from using it daily.

1.0 out of 5 stars Temp Guide broken in 2 months, March 11, 2011
By

Intrigued by the temp gauge on the side I decided to spend the additional money on this tea kettle. The first month was like heaven. I could knew when the water was ready for coffee or the various teas I drink based on the temp gauge. The second month saw the gauge become cloudy. Though this was a concern the temp gauge still registered so I let it pass. NOW, after only 2 full months of use, the gauge doesn't work at all. The water will be boiling and the gauge stays in the middle.
As a previous reviewer stated the bottom is thin and wobbles as the water boils on our stove top.
Major disappointment.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rust at top after two months, January 10, 2011
By
bertwood dale pendleton (redwood falls, mn United States) - See all my reviews
The enamel doesn't come all the way to the top, so there is a ring of rust that circles the lid. Unacceptable in a $20 teapot, and ridiculous on one this expensive.

Addition March 9, 2011 - Enamel has started to come off the inside bottom, leaving pock marks. Now unuseable.

3.0 out of 5 stars Works great but can't hold water all the time..., January 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a great tea kettle---for its looks, the thermometer is attention getting to guests and works well for the perfect cup of your favorite tea. I have had it for a couple months now and three times already people who were over visiting saw it and asked if I would make them tea, the only thing I can guess is that they asked cause they knew it would be exactly the right temp i.e. taste like it supposed to...I always had a tea kettle on my stove before and no one has ever asked me to make them a cup of tea until I had this kettle.

The one down side and it is a pretty big one, is that the manufacturer says you can't do what most people do and leave it full of water on the stove when not in use. This corrodes the temp gauge, so you will constantly be filling it up and emptying it out. Less convenient for sure...so that's the trade off...you decide.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Kettle!, May 17, 2010
I researched kettles for days online and ended up buying this one. I have not been disappointed! The handle remains cool to the touch. I can hear the whistle from the other side of my house. The temp gauge is a great feature. I really like that the inside of the kettle is porcelain, so the flavor of the water isn't changed by metal or plastic. This is a great product, I highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Teakettle, March 2, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Update: 12-12-11 - Little update on this fine Teakettle. The "whistle Insert" has never popped out, yet. Temperature gauge still works fine. This teakettle gets used almost daily and has shown no wear issues. Expect many years of reliable service.

I love this teakettle. The temperature gauge is, OF COURSE, what sets it apart from any other. If you are a tea lover like my wife and I this is a must have due to the varied brew temps of different teas. We used to use a candy thermometer to get the proper temp and it was a pain. A non-issue with this pot.

A couple of folks report a problem with the "whistle Insert" popping out? I have never had that problem and have made many pots of tea. Now we have only had this since the end of December 2010. It has been through a lot of use and isn't an issue at this point. I will post a update in a few months. We'll see if it becomes an issue?

I never put anything but water in this pot by the way. You don't brew tea in it. I'm sure most folks know this but thought I'd add it just in case.

A little pricey but well worth it to me. It is well built and should last for many years. Buy it! You will like it!

Oh, I stayed away from the porcelin covered ones. They are beautiful, but that porcelin coating can chip if you are not careful!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly, the Most Perfect Teakettle, December 16, 2010

This is a very thoughtfully designed teakettle. Besides the obvious advantage, the temperature gage, there are other thoughtful features. The silicon handle stays cool enough to the touch. I like that the bottom is wide, so the water heats up quickly. The lid is large, perfect for easily adding water and cleaning. I really wanted stainless steel, so I wouldn't have to worry about the kettle chipping and drinking chemical laden tea. Anything I would change? The stainless steel is brushed, not as high quality as my All Clad pots. Therefore, it is a little harder to clean. I drink a lot of tea, and cook a lot, so the kettle is always on the stove getting splattered with everything. I found that Perfect Sink by Hope company will do a good job at restoring its natural beauty. If I had it my left handed way, the temperature gage would be on the other side or the kettle. I know, this is the right handed world...

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Every Time, January 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
After taking my two daughters, ages 34 & 40, to visit Victoria Island, B.C. and spending time in a magnificent tea store dedicated to "The Art of Tea" we gained some valuable tea knowledge. With so many varietals, each so very different, not all teas require the same water temperature. Lavender tea for example would burn and become bitter with boiling water! Once home, both my girls were frustrated taking the temperature of boiling water? For Christmas, I did the research and found the Cuisinart PerfecTemp 3 Quart Stainless Steel Teakettle and both my daughters report they absolutely love their kettles and have really been able to taste the difference in their teas purchased in Victoria and locally at Tevana. Both girls highly recommend this kettle and now I will purchase one for myself!
