5.0 out of 5 stars I love it! I love it! I love it!
I had an earlier model of this same product. It was sold at my estate sale after my wife died. I used it all the time for every facet of my cooking and entertainting experiences. Buy it and you'll love it too. Also, I bought one for my girlfriend.

We use a blender about once a week for smoothies and crushed ice. We had a Black and Decker than burned out in less than 6 months, so we got this more expensive, supposedly higher quality Cuisinart as a replacement. It did a great job blending a smoothie, but it smelled like burning plastic with the first use and stopped working completely during the 3rd use - so it was promptly returned.

Also, the pitcher was awful other than the size. The lid was hard to use and it was impossible to pour a smoothie without spilling. Because it blended so well, we would have tried a replacement unit for the initial unit that quit, but couldn't tolerate the mess created with pouring.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!, November 4, 2010
This review is from: Cuisinart SPB-10CH PowerBlend 600-Watt 56-Ounce Blender, Chrome and Black (Kitchen)
I agree with everyone who has had problems with this product. Just because it says Cuisinart on the label, does NOT mean you are getting a quality product!!! I used the blender to puree cooked vegetables and make smoothies, about 10 times max. Then the motor burned out. It never did a good job blending food before it crapped out. For the price paid and the brand name, you'd think you would get years of service. YOU WILL NOT! Do NOT buy this product. Repeat, do NOT buy this product! I contacted Cuisinart and they said for about $20 in shipping, I could return it and they would fix it or replace it. Why would I want to do that? It will only burn out in a few more uses. I'm better off applying the $20 to a new blender. And you can bet it will NOT be a Cuisinart!!!!! If you are on the fence about whether or not to buy this product.........DON'T!!!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars A Real Surprise - and Not in Any Good Way!, December 1, 2010

This review is from: Cuisinart SPB-10CH PowerBlend 600-Watt 56-Ounce Blender, Chrome and Black (Kitchen)
We purchased this item in July of 2009 after careful research. We wanted a large capacity blender and this one was 56 oz. And of course Cuisinart is a respected brand.

After the blender arrived, we thought it was a little "lightweight" in the base (plastic housing instead of metal), but we decided to keep it any way. We used it for about 5 minutes on our first try pureeing some soup ingredients before it quit with a strong electrical smell and a flashing LED.

We finished the soup with our 40+ year old Osterizer and contacted Amazon Customer Service. They provided a "no hassle" exchange and we received and tried the 2nd one. It also emitted a strong "electrical" smell like a motor that is being severally over-worked (and we were only blending liquids and veggies), so we tended to use the Osterizer for smaller jobs and only used the Cuisinart when we needed to blend a large batch of something "light." Three days ago we were pureeing some tomato soup we had prepared and it conked out on us the same way the original one had died - of course it is out of warranty by now.

A real surprise and disappointment!! We even tried to use the Cuisinart's large capacity jar on the Osterizer that just keeps going and going like the Energizer Bunny, but it didn't work. :(

1.0 out of 5 stars smoking piece of cr@p., July 24, 2010
This review is from: Cuisinart SPB-10CH PowerBlend 600-Watt 56-Ounce Blender, Chrome and Black (Kitchen)
i think it's the 8th time i've used this thing and out of nowhere the thing literally smoked out the kitchen and pooped out. worst part was that it was just blending some soft fruit...what's the point of putting in an "ice crush setting" if you can't even crush fruit? just save yourself the trouble and don't buy anything cuisinart and PLEASE heed the reviews before you buy this thing. because you shouldn't. it's that simple. now i just have a really heavy eighty-dollar piece of chrome-painted plastic and a half-blended smoothie.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do NOT buy this product!!!, November 22, 2011
This review is from: Cuisinart SPB-10CH PowerBlend 600-Watt 56-Ounce Blender, Chrome and Black (Kitchen)
I used this product approximately 5 times and the "clutch" broke...translated the rotary blade in the jar wouldn't spin. I called Cuisinart for a parts replacement, but I had to pay for shipping both ways...they wouldn't send me the part. I decided to reinvest in another blender and chucked this one.

Bought this blender 10 months ago. It fried on the 5th use. Spent $20 shipping to cuisinart, this covered both ways, 2nd use when it came back it fried again. This product is junk. This is a good blender if you want one to look at sitting on the counter. The trouble starts when you use it, but trust me you won't have trouble very long, just the odor of burned electrical parts.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cuisinart SPB-10CH: All That Glitters is Not Chrome, October 26, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Cuisinart SPB-10CH PowerBlend 600-Watt 56-Ounce Blender, Chrome and Black (Kitchen)
This blender works well and has a heavy glass cup and plastic lid. The buttons are large and easy to read. The base is not chrome, but a heavy shiny plastic, which looks a bit cheap to me. I am getting used to it, however. For the price, I expected a better blender and a better base material. I replaced a less expensive blender which worked just as well, without the nicer overall design and Cuisinart name. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the base stays shiny and does not chip to a black undercoat.

4.0 out of 5 stars 2 minor annoyances - otherwise great blender, January 6, 2012
This review is from: Cuisinart SPB-10CH PowerBlend 600-Watt 56-Ounce Blender, Chrome and Black (Kitchen)
I'm pleased with the blender - it's as good as my 27 yr old Osterizer which I retired just in case it died on me. It's still going strong.
The cup measurements on the Cuisinart are on the side that a left-handed person sees. I'm a righty, hence the annoyance.
The pouring spout is not designed well. Pouring is painfully slow, otherwise the contents spill out messily. Pouring out the corner, rather than the spout works better for smoothies. Watery liquids are better poured out of the spout, very slowly.
