Powerful, yet smelly?,

This review is from: Cuisinart SPB-6 SmartPower Classic 48-Ounce 6-Speed Blender, White (Kitchen)
This blender works but smells like burning whenever I run it. I am not so happy with it because of the smell but it sure blends.

The WORST!!!,

This review is from: Cuisinart SPB-6 SmartPower Classic 48-Ounce 6-Speed Blender, White (Kitchen)
I replaced an old plastic black & decker with this, thinking it was a more powerful and better built product(it was the glass canister and 500 watt engine which made me think it would perform better)....but sheesh! what a disappointment (to say the least). there is almost nothing this blender can handle- strawberies choke it, yogurt clogs it, and, despite its "crushed ice" setting, it does little but toss the cubes around and nick a bit off the edges.
It smells like burning rubber whenever it runs...and noisy, yes that too- but, thoroughly ineffective. I would return it, but for the cost of shipping such a heavy item. This is one of the worst kitchen appliances I have ever owned. It compares unfavorably to my $10 model from college!

This kitchen appliance makes a lot of noise and doesn't do a lot of work. The motor smells like it's overheating even when just mixing protien drinks that are almost all liquids. It is a poor food processor at best. (clogs easily) It is easy to take apart and clean and the pitcher is solid, but try another brand.

My husband and I purchased this blender a little over a year ago, and we've had nothing but problems with it ever since! Although the blender itself works really well, it's the maintenance of it that is a real pain. First of all, you need to unscrew the blender completely to wash it each time you use it or it will start to develop a really bad smell. With other blenders we've had in the past, we never needed to wash them quite so thoroughly.
Another problem is that it is really difficult to screw the base on. I have a hard time screwing it on tightly, so it has started to leak on me several times. If I have my husband screw the base on, though, it's so tight that I can't unscrew it to wash it, which leads to the problems mentioned above about it starting to smell if you don't wash it each time. The blender has also chewed up the rubber gasket several times, meaning that we had to track down and purchase just the replacement parts. Overall, this blender works well as a blender (which is why I gave it two stars), but it has been causing so many problems that we are going to purchase a new one that it easier to clean and maintain. I do not recommend this one!

Just purchased this blender & am returning it immediately. It has a number of terrible features: it's very difficult to remove the cover if you have carpal tunnel, arthritis, or weak hands. To change speeds you turn a dial (as opposed to the buttons on most others), which makes for rough transitions. Moreover, the dial feels very flimsy and I doubt this machine will last. I purchased this model because I thought its premium price would mean a premium product, but from the plastic gears to the flimsy dial, to the impossible-to-open cover, I hate it. Will go back to either an Oster or Waring, both of which served me well, each for over 10 years.

I've been using this blender for two months..and I really liked the blender. The best thing about it is the simplest design.. It is also very quiet and blends very nicely. NO problems found so far...

Works very well for us!,

We have had this for 6 months and have found that it works very well. I think some of the other reviewers were exaggerating a bit on their reviews. It doesn't "choke" when making fruit smoothies, nor does it have a problem handling ice. Actually it's the most powerful for the price I think.
Of course I have to admit that it is a bit time consuming to clean, but most blenders I have seen will have this issue. The gasket has never caused us problems. Maybe we were using it correctly...? :) I am happy with this product. Looking forward to many years of no-problem use.

Love it or Loathe it,

I bought this blender at Macys on sale about $50. Did have trouble on 2nd use-always keep receipts and warrantys. Warranty replaced unit (now I have 2 glass containers - many mixed drinks) and no problems yet - still have about 2 1/2 yrs left on warranty. I do like the ice crusher componet as my refrig is old fashion and has no built ins. Sounds like a Love it or loathe it mixer having read the various reviews but I think this can be said of many counter-top blenders..

We purchased this blender a couple of months ago. My son is constantly making milk shakes and my husband and I make margaritas in it. It has worked perfectly every time. Since we leave it on the counter the look was important, this one looks very nice.

A great basic blender,
This review is from: Cuisinart SPB-6 SmartPower Classic 48-Ounce 6-Speed Blender, White (Kitchen)
This blender does all I need without the extra buttons that break quickly and are rarely used. The jar is a nice, heavy duty glass. The blender comes apart easily for cleaning. Felt it is a good buy overall.
