too much power!,

This mixer has a ton of power - in fact, the drawback is it lacks a low speed. Even the lowest setting is warp speed - I can't imagine ever using the two higher speeds, except perhaps to power a small vehicle. I mixed chocolate chip cookie dough with no problem on the lowest setting. I highly recommend you use a deep mixing bowl so you don't splatter your entire kitchen with food. Given the great price, however, I am keeping this mixer. I plan to start the mixing manually with a wooden spoon and switch to the mixer once I need heavy duty power.

Durable and strong mixer,

This mixer was a welcome change from my old, weak-motored mixer. It is true that the lowest speed is still pretty darn fast. I was able to mix thick chocolate chip cookie dough on the lowest speed. But I also did egg whites and they turned out lovely. I've had no problem with the beaters bending, and they are very easy to clean. Update: 4 years after I wrote the above, my mixer is still going strong. I used it for a 3-hour marathon session of frosting making and then a 5-hour session of ice cream making. The beaters have not bent at all despite using it in glass and metal bowls.

Good mixer, but too powerful,

Agreed - this mixer has got a TON of power!!! I actually had to purchase a high-walled mixing bowl to go with this mixer. It splatters liquids all over the place with a regular bowl. However, now that I have the high-walled bowl, I find it to be a very good mixer that gets the job done. I love the new design of the beaters (no center post) - its makes it immensely easier to clean and less waste!

Noisy & Flimsy,

This review is from: Cuisinart HTM- 3 SmartPower 3-Speed Electronic Hand Mixer (Kitchen)
It may have a strong motor, but it howls like a military jet on afterburers. What's worse, the beaters are made of flimsy wire. After a few uses, nothing very hard, they were bent and out of balance. Now the off-kilter beaters make a terrible racket as they bang together. We had an old Cuisinart food processor that was pretty reliable, so we bought this mixer based on the brand. We bought one of their coffee grinders as well. Both have been only fair to poor. Be warned.

Cuisinart Electronic Mixer-Bah,

Electronic controls on a hand mixer are annoying. Press a button to turn it on, then press another button to increase speed, repeat, repeat, then press another button to turn off. Problem was that in no time, the "on" button stuck "on" and the mixer couldn't be turned off. Threw it away.

WASTE OF MONEY-CUISINART SHOULD BE BETTER THAN THIS,
This review is from: Cuisinart HTM- 3 SmartPower 3-Speed Electronic Hand Mixer (Kitchen)
Yes, the mixer is powerful, but I only got about a handful of uses out of it before the beaters quit turning. I emailed Cuisinart who didn't care because they said it was past warranty. Warranty or not, I expected more than 10 uses out of mixer made by Cuisinart! Very unhappy.

Not built for the power it has,
This review is from: Cuisinart HTM- 3 SmartPower 3-Speed Electronic Hand Mixer (Kitchen)
I bought this for my wife about 3 years ago. It has been used regularly, and has been great. And then one day the motor raced away but no turning of the beaters. Upon taking it apart, I discovered that the fantastically powerful 220 watt motor has a steel worm gear on it - driving plastic gears on the beaters. Plastic gears that were completely stripped, and not replaceable. This is a well-made product, but like all products is only as good as its weakest link - metal gears, which might have cost $5 more, would have added many years to the life of this mixer. But, then, quality's just not the point anymore, is it? If it was really built for quality, I wouldn't need to buy another, would I? So by making a product that dies in 3 years rather than 10, they make more money, and we are screwed once again. Welcome to good ol' American capitalism.

WHO WILL CLEAN UP THE MESS???,
By Mother of Two (Brookline, MA United States) - See all my reviews

I was very pleased to receive this as a Christmas gift from my brother and sister-in-law, particularly when I mentioned that I just needed an inexpensive mixer for my second home. It looks nice and the fact that there is no center post on the beaters means that they are easy to clean up. The problem though with this mixer is that it is way too powerful. Even on the lowest setting, I have ingredients flying everywhere which necessitates a lot of extra clean up. As a mom of two young kids, I have enough clean up to do! I tend to do my baking with my five year old son, mostly for somehting fun to do, but I end up feeling frustrated when using this little gadget. Do yourself a favor and buy another hand mixer!
