Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Compact and loaded with electronic controls, this 0.5-cubic-foot, 1500-watt countertop toaster oven/broiler has room to toast four slices, roast a 4-1/2-pound chicken, bake a 9-inch pie, or broil several steaks. For easy cleaning, the interior is nonstick and a slide-out tray catches toast crumbs. The exterior is steel painted white. The oven measures 14 inches wide, 9-1/4 inches high, and 17 inches deep, weighs 20-1/2 pounds, and carries a three-year warranty against defects. It comes with a rack that fits in two positions and a baking pan with a broiler insert. For safety, the oven automatically shuts off after 4 hours.

A touchpad control panel runs the width of the oven and offers many options, including time and temperature, for all cooking methods. Toasting controls, for example, include buttons for number of items, defrosting, and bagels. Up to seven customized settings can be programmed into the toaster's memory so they can be conveniently recalled. Combining, say, the four-slice option, the defrost option, and the bagel option in the memory allows for defrosting and toasting four frozen bagel halves to a desired shade at the touch of a button without having to reprogram the toaster. --Fred Brack

Product Description

This toaster oven/broiler features a state of the art heat sensor and browning memory, and both will ensure that every food you cook is cooked to perfection. Use the sleek touchpad control to program toasting, it's so easy with separate buttons for bagel, defrost, reheat and 4-slice functions. But toasting isn't the only thing this machine can do, far from it. Generous capacity and a two position oven rack give you the options of cooking a whole chicken or a 9" pie.

This review is from: Cuisinart TOB-160 Basic Toaster Oven/Broiler, White (Kitchen)
I just bought this toaster oven after reading online reviews. It is beautifully designed, compact and attractive, much to my delight. It takes up less room than old toaster ovens. My primary reason for buying it was to make good toasted English muffins, waffles and the like. My old toaster oven (DeLonghi) was a disaster, burning everything on the bottom. I eagerly tried this one several times, changing the degree of browness level, and each time, the same areas underneath were burnt black, setting off my smoke alarm for the first time in 15 years. I then tried raising the rack to a higher level, and PRESTO! I had evenly toasted food, no more burnt offerings!

5.0 out of 5 stars How can you go wrong with Cuisinart??, March 5, 2002

It took me a long time to decide on a toaster by looking at Amazon reviews- no one toaster seemed to be the obvious "best choice". I went with this model and am VERY glad that I did. Toasts without problem- the digital feature is great- it tells you how long your toast will toast. Easy to adjust brownness. Also, the interior is so large that it fits most all of my casserole/corningware dishes (no need to buy extras just for the toaster). My one (small) wish they offered this model in black/chrome. Add this to the list of Cuisinart success stories!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Warranty That Works!, November 6, 2003

This review is from: Cuisinart TOB-160 Basic Toaster Oven/Broiler, White (Kitchen)
I bought this two years ago to replace my old Black and Decker, and was fairly pleased. I utilize a toaster oven nearly every day, rather than fire up the full-sized oven. It is roomier and has two positions for the inside rack. However, the broiler rack and tray are very susceptible to rust and not at all easy to clean. I have to use the old-fashioned oven cleaner. It also gets a bit discolored around the edges of the door. Otherwise it worked like a charm until the faceplate where the controls are began to crack. Probably from frequent use. I dug out the old warranty information and called the company expecting to get the runaround. Amazingly enough, they are shipping a new model, no questions asked. I provided them with a credit card to cover shipping ($15) and I have to return the old one upon receipt of the new one. Not bad!
