this oven is not to be trusted, unless somehow we got the only one off the container ship that had the problems we've experienced. it features both flaws in design and manufacture as evidenced by the following problems:

I can't say enough good things about this oven. What I like most about it is its exceptional toasting ability...slices come out toasted evenly every time. And if you want to stop the toasting process, just press "stop," which is a welcome change from other toasters where a dial has to be almost forced back into the "off" position. It also functions very well in the baking mode...preheats fast too.

Its polished chrome exterior gives it an upscale look and is different from the typical white/cream color that can eventually become stained/burned looking with time. If this was in a "Survivor" of toasters, it would surely outlast the competition. I've had two Delonghis in the past that performed poorly, and Krups (though pretty reliable) just doesn't look as good. Works great and looks great too. What more can you ask for?

5.0 out of 5 stars Sharp looking AND practical!, December 20, 2001
This review is from: Cuisinart TOB-30BC Classic Toaster Oven/Broiler, Brushed Chrome (Kitchen)
One heckuva great looking appliance! Especially for those of us who hate white appliances! I looked at all types of toaster-ovens available and decided on this. It may cost a little more than some, but well worth it! I'm single and typically survive on a toaster-oven or microwave for cooking. I tossed my old model(B & D) happily, since it had that awful drop down oven floor, that was practically impossible to clean well. This has a removable crumb tray that is coated for cleaning ease and the same for the oven walls. It can hold a good size frozen pizza and I tested it tonite. I may even try to cook my first chicken in it! Pre-heated quickly, cooked evenly. I couldn't be happier with my choice!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Toaster Oven!, July 16, 2003

Love Strawberries (Denver, CO United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cuisinart TOB-30BC Classic Toaster Oven/Broiler, Brushed Chrome (Kitchen)
When I began my search for a toaster oven, I lingered over the selection at several stores, I was not satisfied with the models I came across. I gingerly tested the floor models, trying to determine the quality and sturdiness of each. All of them felt cheaply constructed; some of the plastic knobs fell off with my delicate turning and the doors were quite loose with a large gap that would allow too much heat to escape. Even more disturbing to me was the fact that even the more expensive models appeared to be of this same poor quality.

So I decided to check reviews on Amazon and see if any decent toaster ovens were actually being manufactured. After reading the reviews, I decided to purchase this one... In a sense, it felt like a leap of blind faith for me as there was no floor model to test.

I have been extremely pleased with my decision to purchase this toaster oven. Not only is it aesthetically appealing, but it is remarkably solid and well constructed. The door fits snugly and the knobs feel secure. It is amazingly fast and wonderfully efficient, everything I have cooked in it has come out evenly heated and a delicious golden brown. I never imagined that I would enjoy a kitchen appliance this much before...

There is only a small word of caution that I would like to share. If you are accustomed to inadequate toasters or toaster ovens, please give yourself time to adapt to this one! Start with the settings on light and gradually increase it until you figure out the perfect settings for your individual taste. It helps if you keep a close eye on it until you are more familiar with its capabilities. My boyfriend tried to use it to toast croissants and ended up burning them because he didn't believe that a toaster oven could be so efficient. If you are aware of how quickly this toaster oven works before you begin using it, you shouldn't encounter this problem at all. I would certainly recommend this toaster oven to anyone!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent! Excellent! Excellent!, August 24, 2002

This review is from: Cuisinart TOB-30BC Classic Toaster Oven/Broiler, Brushed Chrome (Kitchen)
This toaster oven is a godsend. It toasts, bakes, broils, and is easy to clean. I didn't want to spend this amount on a toaster oven but it was well worth it. I had purchased a cheaper brand (Black and Decker) a little over a year ago and I had several problems with it.

This oven is big enough to roast a chicken for dinner as well as making perfect toast (and bacon) in the morning. The nonstick sides make clean up quick and easy. The chrome finish gives this oven a fresh new look. I have not had any problems with this oven. It's a GREAT oven!

I had read reviews for several different ovens before deciding to purchase this Cuisinart. It had everything I needed even if it was a little pricey. It has been the best small appliance purchase I have made in several years. I use my toaster oven more often than my regular oven.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dream Machine, December 12, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Cuisinart TOB-30BC Classic Toaster Oven/Broiler, Brushed Chrome (Kitchen)
I've bought toaster ovens for the past 30 years, and this one is an absolute dream! It's thoughtfully designed with a great use of interior space, multi-position shelf, easy to clean interior with a crumb tray that covers the bottom completely to minimize mess, and clear dial settings. The "Stop" button to interrupt a toasting cycle is very convenient, and the series of beeps that signals the end of the cycle is pleasantly pitched and easy to hear because there are several to catch your attention. Most satisfying, though, is the speed and efficiency of its heating. Unlike any other oven that I've owned, this one cooks things evenly, all the way through. Toast is gorgeously golden, and even frozen foods like waffles and pizza cook perfectly. A couple of other reviewers complained that in the baking mode the top heating element came on and burned the top of their food. In my experience, the top element comes on for a very short time -- only long enough to maintain the correct temperature -- and by using the instruction manual to determine the appropriate position AND side of the rack to use, I've had no complaints whatsoever. Surprisingly, the sides of the oven do not feel hot during toasting or baking, though you can certainly feel the heat in the front of the glass door. As several reviewers have pointed out, this toaster oven also looks terrific -- a factor which, when combined with all the other pluses, makes this a tough one to beat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a toaster oven that does it all, December 16, 2005
I have read numerous reviews on this toaster oven on [...]. People seem to either love or hate this toaster oven. I have found that of the 6 toaster ovens I have owned over the years, they either toast pretty well or bake pretty well, but never both. Finally I have found a toaster oven that does it all. The Cuisinart TOB30 is sleek, has a large capacity, to allow you to have an extra oven on Thanksgiving to bake that casserole, and toasts great! When I opened the box I carefully read the instructions, then proceeded to make toast, bake a biscuit, and also bake a cookie. I found that if I positioned the rack exactly as illustrated, I had no problem. There is a slight learning curve. If you have no patience and don't want to move the racks to the correct positon, this or any toaster oven may be for you. One complaint I read about repeatedly is that the toast done beeper goes off at odd times. All complaintants mentioned that they did stop the toast cycle prematurely, so this probably caused this. This seems like a well made and well thought out oven. Beauatiful toast and golden biscuits and cookies, what more can you ask?

5.0 out of 5 stars So that's how a toaster oven works!, August 13, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Cuisinart TOB-30BC Classic Toaster Oven/Broiler, Brushed Chrome (Kitchen)
In the last 3 years, I've purchased 3 toaster ovens. This one is the third and last one, at least for a while, I'm sure. My previous one was a Black and Decker. Burn marks took a couple of weeks to appear on the white exterior (and I hadn't burnt anything). And then in the end, one element quit working. So I decided to spend the bucks and bought this one. Wow. I can heat a slice of pizza and have the middle of the slice heat up at the same rate as the rest of the slice. Who'd've thunk? And the toast heated evenly. And when I set the oven temperature, I'm sure where I've set it (check out B&D's dials...the model I had was impossible to interpret). And I even get an audible indication when the toast is finished.

It's been a while since I've had a quality toaster oven. This time I had to spend a more than I did on the one I bought before the last two losers, but this one works very well. I guess (money) just doesn't buy what it used to. What I spent for this one ... was well worth the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars great toaster, September 11, 2005
I spent too long looking at toasters on amazon and ended up buying this one. I really like it. I'm eating toast it made as I type this, and it tastes as good as toast can taste. Two nights ago I used it (the toaster, not the delicious toast) to bake an eggplant. It took about 20 minutes and turned out great. All in all, I really couldn't be happier with my choice. Even my fussy architect/design-snob girlfriend thinks it looks cool. Bravo, TOB-30BC!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cooks everything perfectly!, December 20, 2005

Mom of 2 (San Ramon, CA) - See all my reviews
After being disappointed with GE and Black and Decker toaster ovens, I spent a little more and got this Cuisinart. It is the best toaster oven hands down. The light, medium, dark toaster settings really work. I have little ones and make a lot of french fries and mozzerella sticks. This toaster oven actually crisps them, they don't come out cooked but mushy like they did in my other ones.

You can cook 3 bagels at a time as well as small pizzas. It it nicely oversized compared to others.

I have stainless steel appliances and this oven looks great out on the counter.

Great product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Nice Toaster Oven! Great Value !, January 26, 2003
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Cuisinart TOB-30BC Classic Toaster Oven/Broiler, Brushed Chrome (Kitchen)
I have been wanting to buy a toaster oven for awhile and decided to check out Amazon and the ratings for various brands and models. I read the reviews for this Cuisinart TOB-30BC Toaster Oven and I was impressed by all of the positive comments. The Cuisinart name is synonomous with quality and the price seemed like a bargain, so I decided to buy. The toaster oven arrived a few days ago and I've been using daily since then. It's easy to set up, easy to follow toasting and broiling directions and my french bread loaves toast fabulously in it! I don't have to heat my cheese bread or small french bread loaves in my big oven anymore. The Cuisinart toaster oven is quick and toasts evenly.
There is a heating element on the top and bottom of the oven. The heating element on the top can burn your bread, but you just have to learn to adjust the toasting knob closer to the "light" setting (thicker pieces of bread may darken quicker on the top because closeness to top heating element). There is also an "off" button that you can use to stop the oven at any time in the toasting process.

All in all, the oven is a nice size...fits right where my old toaster was...not much bigger and I love the convenience of how quick and easy it is to make toast, heat frozen waffles, etc.
...doubt if I'll ever bake that chicken in it like the instructions say I can...I'm just satisfied with the toasting feature!
