4.0 out of 5 stars Cuisinart 2-Slice Belgian Waffler
Cuisinart has created a small Belgian waffler that is compact, quick and makes a darned good waffle. The lights inticating when the iron is ready for the batter, when the waffle is done, along with the choice of 6 heat settings are features that convinced me to buy this iron. Most of the irons I looked at did not have an indicator light saying when the waffle was done...

2.0 out of 5 stars Works nicely for a couple of months -- then dies.
Based on other similar reviews, I can only conclude that the WMB-2 has a fundamental design flaw. We received our first Cuisinart about two years ago. After one year of weekly use, it died and was replaced by Cuisinart (although we had to pay for all the shipping!!). The second waffle iron only lasted six months. The good people at Cuisinart should probably take this...

Cuisinart has created a small Belgian waffler that is compact, quick and makes a darned good waffle. The lights inticating when the iron is ready for the batter, when the waffle is done, along with the choice of 6 heat settings are features that convinced me to buy this iron. Most of the irons I looked at did not have an indicator light saying when the waffle was done. ... no drip tray around the iron...true. BUT, if you know how to measure out the batter, and you make good batter, this is NOT a problem because your won't have spills. Cooks Illustrated has a good write-up on how to make a good waffle batter...waffle batter must be thick. And you have to use either a measureing cup or a large ladle in order to distribute the right amount of batter in the right places on the griddle. (I recommend that you consult Cooks Illustrated Online for these instructions.) After I learned that, the rest was a cinch! The waffles turn out consistently good and cleanup is almost zero. Contrary to some reviews I read, I have yet to see any sticking at all and I have not used spray oil on it. Given the correct batter, this iron will do what you want it to do with ease. When you are finished using it, you can wind up the cord and set it on it end for easy storage. One word of caution, and the only reason I did not give it a 5 star rating...the chrome outside gets VERY hot...remember this is an IRON. Allow it to cool completely before trying to put it away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Belgian Waffle Maker, May 4, 2000

I love this waffle maker! It makes perfectly brown and even waffles every batch. I really like the locking mechanism on the machine that keeps the rising waffles from opening the lid. It's a snap to clean up too. Waffles come out nice and soft on the inside, and crispy on the outside!

5.0 out of 5 stars Quick and Easy Belgian Waffles, December 10, 2000

There's really not much that can be said for this small and elegant machine other than it makes great Belgian waffles, provided YOU make great batter.

The waffle maker itself is compact, stores easily, almost completely idiot-proof as it has two glowing attentuators on top. One indicates power to the appliance; the green tells you the waffle maker is ready to make waffles or that your waffle is ready.

There's a locking mechanism to keep the lid tight while the waffle is baking. The waffle will NOT stick if you used a cooking spray like PAM (butter flavor?) or Mazola ahead of time as recommended by the manufacturer.

Sunday mornings are fun again!

The good people at Cuisinart should probably take this lemon off of the market.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great waflles - messy cleanup, March 4, 2003

This waffle maker makes excellent waffles. The green/red light system really works well. The waffles come out golden brown and perfect. It is a slick design, with chrome and black colors easily fitting into most kitchen set ups. It also has an easy to use cooking time dial on top. I've never had to spray pam or grease it up, and have never had the waffles stick.

The one drawback to this waffle maker, which is why it got 4 stars vs 5 stars, is that it doesn't have a batter overflow catcher. So, if you pour in too much batter into the waffle maker, the extra batter comes bubbling out, and gets over the maker or your counter. However, after a couple of tries, you can pretty much eyeball how much to put in.

We use this every sunday to make waffels. The only draw back to it is that it sticks a little, but all in all it is a great machine!

We had this waffle maker for about 2.5 years before it went out on us. We used it heavily and kept the control on 4. I traced the problem to a blown thermal fuse (ie too much current draw) which probably meant the heating element(s) were going out on it. I replaced the fuse and it blew that one too, so not really any way to repair them :(

Cuisinart makes a great food processor, but I can't say the same for this waffle maker. I'm looking for a pro appliance to replace it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality, November 6, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Cuisinart WMB-2 2-Slice Belgian Waffle Maker (Kitchen)
My husband and I received this waffle maker as a gift 3 years ago, but after approximately 1 year of light use, the item completely quit working. It appeared that there was a problem with the wiring in the browning control button. We returned this item to Cuisinart, and were happy to receive a brand new replacement. Unfortunately, this nice, new replacement quit working after less than a year of light use (we used it perhaps 6-10 times). The item is no longer covered under the original warranty, and I was informed by the customer service rep. at Cuisinart that there are very few companies that repair such items, so basically, what I thought was a lovely, high quality waffle maker will be heading to the landfill. I would be very sceptical about purchasing this item in particular (hopefully Cuisinart maintains higher quality standards for its other kitchen products) and encourage people looking for a high quality waffle maker to consider another brand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best wafflemaker on the market!, December 12, 2002
By
This review is from: Cuisinart WMB-2 2-Slice Belgian Waffle Maker (Kitchen)
I've owned three or four waffle makers and none of them compare to the quality of this gem from Cuisinart. If you're picky about waffles--and why shouldn't you be?--then spend a little extra on this model and get effortless results. Here's what makes this a GREAT wafflemaker:

1) An accurate thermostat--no surprises when you open the lid
2) A consistent heating surface--avoid hot spots or undercooked waffles
3) A variable timer--essential if you have more than one waffle color preference in the family
4) Smart design--it stores on its side, taking up a LOT less space in your cupboard
5) Easy to clean exterior--cleans up with a damp paper towel
6) Dependable non-stick finish--unlike [other] waffle makers, the nonstick finish on this model does not wear out
7) Cool-touch lid--never burn your hand on a waffle maker again

I am genuinely thrilled with my Cuisinart waffle maker and I believe it's an absolute bargain. If you're used to spending big bucks on store-bought waffles--or if you have a...junky waffle maker at home--treat yourself to this nice little unit. It's a low-cost luxury. Plus, you'll have a fun time making waffles (and impressing your family and friends!). Bon appetit!
