I bought this because I have limited kitchen space. I loved it for the first two months until the food processor bowl cracked when I took the bowl off the base. That was frustrating, but I e-mailed Cuisinart asking how to get a replacement bowl. They didn't reply to my e-mail, but did send me out a new bowl free. I really appreciated the new bowl, though it would have been nice if they had responded to my e-mail letting me know they were sending it to me. A month later, while blending salsa, the motor burned out. That was VERY frustrating! I read my material and knew it would cost a lot in postage to mail it back to Cuisinart, so I called the store where I bought it and they accepted in back for an exchange. I brought the new one home and used it for 6 months, but had to be extremely careful not to over heat the motor. Then I was blending soft serve ice cream and it started smoking and burning. That was the final straw. I love the blender/processor combo idea, but it's useless to have the motor keep burning out. I took it back to the store I bought it at, got a refund and will not buy this again. What a hassle! So to sum it up, it's wonderful to have the blender/processor combo, but not when the motor keeps burning out. Hopefully Cuisinart will fix this defect, but until they do, don't buy this.

I had the same smoky motor problem as the previous reviewer. Even with a straightforward mixing task (a light smoothie, with the machine running only five or so seconds at a time) the motor began to burn and smoke ... this only a couple months after I bought the thing. Other problems:

- No matter how carefully and tightly I screwed the blade and base onto the glass blender jar, the unit leaked.

- When using the food processor attachment, the motor noise was so loud and shrill that it was genuinely painful to be nearby.

- It did a mediocre job of blending. A simple pesto required endless cycles of stopping the machine, stirring and starting up again. Even after 15 minutes, the leaves were barely chopped at the top and practically liquefied at the bottom.

The unit was banished to the trash earlier today.

It's been eight months since i bought this blender. The same smoky motor problem, food processor cracks, glass blender jar leaks and now the base stopped working while blending, called up cuisinart and requested service, again.Overall, doesn't blend very well.Really disappointed with this product for it's price and poor performance.Though there is limited three year warranty, when you call up Cuisinart, they tell that you have to pay for the service, need to constantly remind them regarding the warranty. Only right thing that i did was filling the warranty card and registering when i bought this product. Planning to buy a new blender than using a problematic one.

I have the older version of this blender, but the same problem just happened to me. Blending a mixed drink and all of the sudden a smoky motor and tons of black plastic dust and screws all over the place on the inside. It's completely dead and nothing more than landfill.

I will never buy cuisinart anything again.

Sorry to say--this blender does not deliver! I attempted to crush ice on several occasions and all I got was a smoky smell. My garbage disposal does a better job of crushing ice! I am sad to say I will be returning this product in the morning.
