Good for muffins or cupcakes, but thinner batters leak,

This review is from: Cuisipro Batter Dispenser (Kitchen)
I bought this because when I make cupcakes and muffins I drip batter all over the pans, and have a hard time getting the amounts even. I'm happy to say that it works fairly well for muffin and cupcake batter. However, there are some problems that would make me think twice about buying this again.
Pros: -Dispenses even amounts of batter -Small blueberries fit through dispenser -Is dishwasher safe Cons: -Thinner batters (like for pancakes) leak out of the bottom -Regular sized chocolate chips do not fit through opening and completely clog the dispenser -Can be very difficult to unscrew the top -Can be difficult to scrape thick batters into the cylinder without making a mess -Can be difficult to put back together without forcing batter out of the bottom -Air pockets in the batter can cause a few cupcakes or muffins to be smaller than the rest

I thought this would make measuring out batter easier and make uniform pancakes. It leaks and the batter does not dispense very uniformly. I'm going back to the old manual pancake pouring method.

Don't waste your money!,

I needed something of this nature for my baking business. Using it makes baking cupcakes (both regular and mini-sized) so much faster and easier. It was difficult to assemble and it leaked cake batter all over the counter when I put down after filling the cupcake liners. It also leaked when I was filling the cylinder. I also found the squeeze mechanism to be very stiff as well. The money would have been better spent on the Chicago Metallic, Kuchenprofi or Kitchen Art Batter Pro are much better choices. Wish I could give it a negative star rating ...

I love having a batter dispenser. This item works pretty well with some caveats. I like that it has 3 settings for the amount of batter to dispense (small, medium or large pancake, etc). To fill the dispenser you unscrew the bottom, retract the plunger all the way, turn over, fill, and then screw the bottom back on. If you try to fill from the top, batter will get everywhere when you attach the plunger part.Negatives - batter does leak out of the bottom (the thinner the batter the more that will leak). In between batches I end up turning the dispenser over and resting it on the lip of a mixing bowl to keep it from dripping. Overall capacity is low (about a dozen cupcakes). Also, there is a clear rubber washer that forms a seal with the bottom piece. It comes out easily while cleaning or in the dishwasher. I always feel paranoid that it will get lost or that a family member will toss it or let it go down the disposal. The other brands seem like they would be a little easier to clean. Finally, the clear cylinder screws onto the mechanism with a half-turn. A little too much force (easy to do) and the top white plastic part housing the plunger will crack from the over-tightening. I have super-glued mine one time too many and now it's beyond repair. I am in the market for a new dispenser but will probably try the Kuchenprofi this time. |
