5.0 out of 5 stars very sturdy product - ready for action
I am used to using the 4-sided open bottom graters found at the supermarket or the OXO grater with just two sides. This is so much better. It has a bottom so you can keep everything you grate inside and then dump it all in the bowl at once. It is also very sturdy so you can lean over it to get leverage when grating big hunks of cheese. So far, I have only used 3 out...

3.0 out of 5 stars Box Grater Performance
I have a couple of Microplane graters, but wanted a good all purpose box grater for those times that the food processor was too much. This grater seems very well made, however, I was a bit disappointed in how sharp it was. This may be due to using Microplane graters for smaller jobs and could be skewing my perception of "sharp". I mainly wanted it for the coarse and...

5.0 out of 5 stars top notch grater, January 19, 2009
This review is from: Cuisipro 9.5-Inch 6 Sided Grater (Kitchen)
This kitchen tool is efficient and effective. Allows you to choose the fineness you wish to have for a particular meal. Soft cheese, hard cheese and even grinding things like cinnamon are easily done with this tool. Nice trap door allowing you to transport from grating area to foodminimizing spillage and hand contact.

5.0 out of 5 stars This was a wonderful addition to my kitchen! Love this thing., January 1, 2010

You know there is absolutely not one thing not to like about this particular grater. I must have at least seven or five of these things lying around the kitchen, all sizes, and shapes and of various qualities. This one though beats them all. Like most others, I was use to the four or two sided models and it never occurred to me that there could be more. Duh on me.

Cuisipro has features the other simply do not have such as the pop open bottom which is a wonderful feature and cuts down on the mess factor greatly. The cutting edges are extremely sharp and you have the advantage of at least two more choices as to size texture.

I use mine a lot for various cheeses and have had no problems what so ever with soft, hard or in-between. I also use it extensively for small portions of various vegetables that I use for garnishes or putting together a salad for one our two people...for bigger veggie tasks, I use a food processer.

This thing is a snap to clean up...I simply rinse it off with hot water and stick it in the dishwasher....works every time!

The rounded handle makes it so easy on the hands and gives extra support when you are grating a really hard substance.

I at first thought the price on this thing was a bit steep, but trust me, it is worth every extra penny!

Do be careful though...this thing is sharp!

Love this item and do very highly recommend it.

I put way more energy than was necessary into finding the perfect cheese grater and chose this one. I picked it because of the shape (unlikely to tip over), size (easy to fit hand inside to wash), and trap door (to hold in the cheese!). It does do all of these things and is quite a nice quality grater, but I'm a little annoyed with it. The little trap door was already rather tricky to slide on and off, but I just knocked the grater off the table, and after falling about 3 feet onto linoleum, the trap door no longer goes on. Neither the grater nor the door are noticeably bent, but apparently they are bent enough. So if you are clumsy and are picking this grater because of the trap door, you might want to think about how much the door matters to you before buying it.

I mainly wanted it for the coarse and julienne options. the julienne side didn't really do what I consider a julienne strip using a carrot, it pretty much just grated it. For the price, I would say it is worth it, but a bit disappointed in how it performs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best grater ever!, September 18, 2011

We have had this for a little while now so I am posting my review. This grater does it all! Hard cheeses, soft cheeses, spices (nutmeg , cinnamon), zests citrus, shreds veggies, shaves chocolate & even slices. What is best is that there are no plastic or rubber parts, it's ALL metal, so worth the money. I love the little tray in the bottom that catches everything too, less mess to clean up afterward. I have only been hand washing & drying mine, no issues. One last thing, this is VERY sharp, & if you want to keep it that way, then treat it as you would any blade in your kitchen.
