5.0 out of 5 stars IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THIS ITEM SAVED MY MARRIAGE!
What a nifty little item this is and it has brought some peace to our tumultuous household, and indeed, marriage. 3.0 out of 5 stars GOOD IN CONCEPT BUT JUST SO-SO
I thought this was such a great idea so I wouldn't get the peanutbutter in the jelly jar but when you flip it around to use the jelly side, the PB hits you in the sleeve. It's also a bit larger than it needs to be. If they cut the size in 1/2 I think it would be a better tool. Personally I would recommend you use a regular knife, lick the PB off and stick it in the...

5.0 out of 5 stars IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THIS ITEM SAVED MY MARRIAGE!, March 21, 2010
This review is from: Cuisipro Peanut Butter and Jelly Spreader (Kitchen)
What a nifty little item this is and it has brought some peace to our tumultuous household, and indeed, marriage. I note it has been said that this is the ideal kitchen utensil to be use by children making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. This is quite true, but in our case, it is not the children who need the help and/or training, but rather me! I love PB&J sandwiches and snack on them quite often. It has long been a point of contention between my wife and me, in that I tend to get the peanut butter in the jelly jar and jelly in the peanut butter jar. Messy, messy, messy. I don't really mean to do this but it seems it is in my nature to make a mess of such things when I muck about in the kitchen.

My wife is an understanding lady; a lady with infinite patience; quite likly to become a Saint when the time comes, make no mistake, but after 47 years of ranting (this for some reason is a sore spot with her), she finally took action and purchased one of these little items for my use. I must say it works perfectly and since about a month ago I have not had to listen to one sarcastic remark, receive one lecture, or endure one of her dark and penetrating looks of disgust and distain. Shivers!

This Cuisipro Peanut Butter and Jelly Spreader performs just the way they say it will. Being color coded, I find that even I can remember which end to use during each phase of building my sandwich. The two food jars stay pristine and true to their original contents; no cross contamination or pollination or what ever you want to call it here, no, no, no! This makes her happy and certainly takes much stress out of my life.

The length of this thing is adequate and it allows you to make a nice even spread of the peanut butter, which as all lovers of this classic food know, is extremely important. The jelly, depending one what flavor is more problematic due to the consistency of the various varieties, but as I always use either cheap grape or more expensive elderberry, I have mastered those two perfectly. I doubt if I will experiment with other flavors of jelly due to the fact that after all these years I am a bit set in my ways so I am not going to worry about it. Let the younger folk, the more daring, find for themselves if this item works on strawberry preserves, marmalades and jams. My adventuresome days are over.

Clean up is a snap as a quick run under the water tap and wipe from a paper towel leaves absolutely no residue smeared on the counter top...something else that seems to throw her, i.e. my wife, into a state of extreme agitation. The one small problem I did find was the same that another reviewer here has already mentioned. If you use the jelly end first, then reverse for the peanut butter, then you tend to get jelly on your hand. Now it is a known fact that if you put the peanut butter on last, the sandwich simply DOES NOT taste right. I have found that simply licking the jelly off the fingers works best and is rather enjoyable. If my hands happen to be dirty at the time, then I let my dogs do it. They seem to enjoy it and I share my sandwiches anyway.

Now the 25 year warranties is nice, make no mistake, but for me that is rather moot as it is quite unlikely that I will make it to the warranty cut off date. It is comforting to know though that it will last longer than I will and I am safe from and spared her wraith.

I do highly recommend this product. If you share my traits in this area, it will make your life so very much more pleasant. Now....if I can just remember to reseal the bread and put the lid back on the two jars and place the jelly back into the refrigerator, or.....well, I will work on those things later.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cuisipro Peanut Butter and Jelly Spreader, January 6, 2007

In our family we give a "mystery" kitchen item each year. Everyone tries to guess what the item is used for. This spreader really had the group stumped, someone finally came up with it on the third day, with some minor hints. Since then my 11 year old has been using it to make sandwiches. She says it works great, but you need to spread the peanut butter first. This really is a gift for some one who has everything.

We have a family member with peanut allergies (a relative that does not live with us but visits often). I just like that we can designate a utensil just for the peanut butter and we know that none of our other kitchen items are used with it. It has been a great product for us and let's us try to be as safe as possible!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great kitchen tool, December 12, 2011

I love that you don't have to dirty more than 1 tool to make a PB&J sandwich. The spatula type tips make for easy spreading and transfer of PB or J to the bread. Fits in any standard kitchen drawer. Great little tool to have around the house or while in a camper.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cool tool!, March 4, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Cuisipro Peanut Butter and Jelly Spreader (Kitchen)
I had some extra Amazon gift card credits, and I just could no longer resist this cool little tool that I had found long ago and that has been sitting on my Amazon Wish List ever since. I make myself PB&J sandwiches for lunch every week, and truth be told, I kind of hate having to get out a separate knife and spoon to do it (I would probably just stick the same knife I use for the peanut butter in the jelly jar, but if my husband caught me doing that, I'd be in big trouble). So I finally broke down and purchased this gadget.

The first thing that you notice about the Cuisipro PB&J Spreader is that it is BIG! At 11 1/2 inches, it is almost as long as a ruler; that is bigger than I had anticipated, but I should have read the description more closely. It didn't turn out to be an issue as much as it took me by surprise. So, when I went to make my inaugural sandwich with the spreader, I started with the peanut butter (tan) side first. And I have to say, using this spreader was MUCH better than using a knife: the spreader is more like a spatula, so it was much easier to apply the peanut butter smoothly and evenly to the bread, especially with the natural-style peanut butter that I favor.

Unfortunately, the jelly (purple) section wasn't quite as miraculous. It worked fine, but there are a couple of minor issues. As other reviewers have noted, when you flip the spreader around, it is very easy to get peanut butter residue on your hand or your sleeve. You can avoid this issue by either 1) being very careful, or 2) washing the peanut butter side immediately after using it, but it seems like a bit of a design flaw. Second, the jelly side is similar to the peanut butter side in that is like a spatula--but for jelly, you usually want more of a spoon.

So, in the end, this little gadget is not ideal, nor is it necessary. But do I regret purchasing it? No, I don't; it's a fun little item to have it my kitchen, and it makes me smile when I use it--you can decide for yourself whether that's worth the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love It, June 26, 2010

We purchased the pb & jelly spreader. We purchase the 3# tubs of peanut butter from our local warehouse club. This spreader is the right length to get to the bottom of the tub and scrap the sides and not get pb all over your hands. The spreader is flexible and spreads the peanut butter without damaging the bread.

5.0 out of 5 stars Impulse buy...but I'm back for more!, December 18, 2009

Thought this was a neat concept and added it, impulsively, at the last minute to my order. I love this thing! I don't have to constantly dirty 2 knives every time I make a pb&j. It's also great because, if you buy the huge jars of peanut butter like we do, usually you get to the bottom of it & end up with peanut butter all over your hand while trying to get the peanut butter at the bottom. This is always getting used...which is why I'm back to buy another :-)

I bought this PB&J spreader as a stocking stuffer, it's a fun little tool.
Obviously, it is quite simple to make PB&J's without this spreader but it's one less utensil to wash at our dishwasher-LESS apartment.
