This product worked great on hard ice cream. We used it at my daughter's first birthday. Grandpa manned the ice cream and was able to fill plates faster than the cake could be cut. The drawback is that it doesn't work as well on soft ice cream and there are multiple parts to keep track of. On the positive side, having multiple parts lets you take it apart and stick in the dishwasher so you know all the crevices are getting cleaned.

Very cool scoop, note make sure you dip in hot water and shake between scoops to get a good result. Otherwise it tends to stick.

Nothing to really compare it too, if you want to try a stacker scooper you pretty much have to try this one. BUT, don't waste your money. I don't care what firmness your ice cream is. We tried extra firm sub zero ice cream, soft, and near melting ice creams. All with the same basic issue. The ice cream rarely sticks into the scooper. So you take the scooper out and the ice cream is still in the container. Just near impossible to get the ice cream to break free from itself.

I have complaints about it's design after using it. But honestly that hardly matters because those flaws will not make a difference in it's ability to work well. I don't know how the Thrify's staker scooper works. But they also have a completely different tub based ice cream storage and specific temperatures, etc.

Put simply, you will get frustrated getting any ice cream to stay in the scooper and you will crush and bend the ice cream containers while doing it. Our counter was an awful mess when we were done trying it. Save you money and stick to the standard ball shaped scoopers.

I was very disappointed by this product. The main problem if when you take the scooper out and the ice cream is still in the container!

Don't bother, it doesn't work. Instructions say to use on firm ice cream, but it won't go through it. If the ice cream is less firm, it won't release it. Nice concept, just doesn't work.

[...]First, you can't separate the base from the unit to wash it - it simply can't be removed without three hands, two to push on each side of the unit and a third to pull really hard on the metal part - so what am I supposed to do, call someone to help? Second, if you don't pre-heat the metal part, the ice cream just stays in the container and you pull out an empty scooper. Hey, if I am required to boil water before scooping ice cream I will just use a regular scooper! Third, even if you can manage to get a scoop out, after a while the plunger stops locking, so you can't push any more.

This is a product that should never have been manufactured, and the design team should be fired. I threw mine in the trash after a few honest attempts, and I didn't even bother to give it to Goodwill - I wouldn't want to punish anyone else.

This is a pretty cool gadget. I dipped the scoop into a glass of hot water while dishing out the ice cream. The ice cream was rock solid from the deep freezer. It cut through it like butter. The kids absolutely loved the shapes and the fact that I could stack vanilla and chocolate so neatly. Even the adults were impressed.

Taking it apart for cleaning is a bit difficult. However, the more I do it, the easier it becomes.

I found on of these in a high end kithen store. I loved it cause it reminded me of the scoops I use to buy at thifty drug store growing up. One I got the han of using it my I've cream came out pretty good. I washed it out ever time I used it and even put it in te dishwasher. One day my girlfriend realized it could be taken apart for better cleaning. This is when we discovered that there was gunk inside that had never been cleaned. There was also mildew or something on the plastic covered by the metel pieces. Super gross. I tried to clean it of but it was a lost cause. When I found a replacement one on amazon I bought it and couldn't be happier. I not make sure to take it apart to give it a more invasive cleaning after ever use.
