Product Description

Amazon

A food mill earns its place in a well-equipped kitchen by providing far more control when precise food texture is desirable than do a food processor, blender, or mixer. This is a professional-grade model, big (9 inches in diameter by 4-3/4 inches high), durable (18/10 stainless steel), and easy to clean (dishwasher-safe). Use its three disks--2, 3, and 4 millimeters--to puree tomato sauce, produce smooth or chunky apple sauce, cream cauliflower soup, create fresh-tasting baby food, and mash potatoes without creating a starchy mess. Unwanted fibers, seeds, and skins remain behind. The mill's two handles facilitate lifting and hanging for storage and also permit the mill to be secured firmly to a pot's edges. --Fred Brack

Product Description

This smoothly functioning food mill has a wide bowl feed and a selection of straining discs. Use the fine disc for baby foods or smooth sauces, the medium one for applesauce, and the larger one for ricing potatoes. The undesirable fibers, seeds, and skins stay behind.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great tool, January 21, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Cuisipro Stainless Steel Food Mill (Kitchen)
I bought this tool because I read that it was the absolute best way to make mashed potatoes, and indeed it is. Last night I saw this particular mill recommended on the "Cook's Illustrated" television show. They liked it because it's very sturdy, the discs are changeable, and, unlike an electric version they tried, the motion is reversable. My only complaint about this product is the lack of instruction that comes with it. While it didn't take me too long to figure out how to put it together, it wasn't until I saw them use it on t.v. last night that I realized that you're supposed to reverse the motion if food gets stuck. Until I saw that, I had been having a terrible time with this product and was about to send it back. Now it works like a dream and we are in mashed potato heaven!

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh potatoes!, December 4, 2000

You've GOT to try mashed potatoes done with a food mill. They are superb!

As food mills go, this is a good one. It's really sturdy and comes apart easily for cleaning. I like this one better than some of the more expensive brands, (Rosle). It's also a little more solid than some of the cheaper brands. In all, it's a pretty good value. Hey, anything that's dishwasher safe is okay by me! I also love the fact that this comes with three disks, I've used all of them.

I use my food mill for a variety of tasks, as you probably already guessed, mashed potatoes are my favorite.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Underrated Tool, January 20, 2004

I'm surprised that more people don't talk about food mills. I got this one for Christmas. I don't have a food processor and I want to be able to make thick pureed bean soups, homemade applesauce and the like. I can't get enough of this food mill! The three blades are more than adequate for everything I have done so far. I may never buy applesauce or tomato sauce again. I'm looking forward to trying it for mashed potatoes and more soups. The only drawback is that the assembly instructions aren't really clear. I was able to get the food mill put together without much trouble, but clear instructions would have been nice. There are also a few recipes enclosed that I have tried with great success.
