As usual for me, I did my research before purchasing this item. I wanted a cooling rack to roast/bake strips of bacon in the oven, that would not rust, and I wanted something that could be easily cleaned in the dishwasher. Based on the reviews for its bigger version (12x17) also from CIA, I decided to give it a try. This fits the bill and so far (after 3 uses/washes) I have been very pleased with how easy it is to clean and how it hasn't rusted.

After the first use, I scrubbed it with a brush prior to putting in the dishwasher, and while it wasn't a major hassle, I was wondering what would happen if I just placed it in the machine without 'scrapping' the little burnt pieces of bacon. So on my second use, I did just that, and the rack came out clean.

As for the rust proof capabilities of this rack, only time will tell.

For cooling cookies - which I haven't done yet, I'm sure this rack will be just as spectacular. I highly recommend this if ease of cleaning and rust proof is something you are looking for in a cooling rack.

We were looking for an oven-safe rack that would allow us to cook meat (like bacon) without the meat setting in a pool of grease when it was done. This rack fits the bill. The bonus is that it is dishwasher safe. We have put it in the dishwasher several times now with no adverse effects. The rack fits a standard baking sheet. We highly recommend this product.

I purchased this after watching several cooking shows that recommend baking certain items on a rack placed in a half sheet pan to enhance crispiness on all sides of the food. I have used it many times for things like oven fries, baked chicken, pork chops, bacon, and roasted vegetables. The rack cleans up nicely in the dishwasher and as yet shows no sign of rust. I have also used it out of the oven to cool cakes and cookies, which makes it a great purchase for my kitchen. I would buy this product again.

If you are buying this rack to fit a half sheet pan you own, I highly recommend taking careful measurements of the inside of your pan - not all pans are created equal or true to size, although this rack does measure exactly 10'x15" as advertised. I had to bypass another rack because reviews indicated that it was larger than the product description stated and wouldn't have fit in my pan.

I love bacon. Who doesn't? I don't always bacon, but when I do, I bacon in the oven. I wanted to lift my bacon whilst it baked so it didn't drown in the greeezz. These worked perfect.

I added two of these to my baconing tool set. Two of these fit perfectly inside a Winware 16-Inch by 22-Inch Aluminum Sheet Pan lined with the wide/heavy duty aluminum foil. One Winware 16-Inch by 22-Inch Aluminum Sheet Pan fits perfectly inside your standard size oven. It essentially takes up the entire rack/oven.

Cleanup may take a short soak in hot soapy water, then a wipe down with a sponge (follow the "grain", flip and go the opposite way). Drain the greeezz into your greeezz saving apparatus (like the Stanco Non-Stick Grease Strainer, Black). Pull out the aluminum foil and discard. If you were careful, you shouldn't have any greeezz in your pan, so let it cool and put it away.

You can comfortably make one pound of thick cut bacon at a time with the above baconing setup. You can push it to a pound and a half, depending on the shape of the bacon. My favorite bacon is Oscar Mayer thick cut (surprisingly). I find it to be very consistent.

I preheat the oven and baconing tool set to 360°, layout the bacon, and bake for at least 30 minutes. I prefer my bacon to be mighty crisp so it may get bumped up to 40 minutes. The greeezz should come out very clear at this temp. Any higher, you get past the smoke point and you get a darker greeezz (and more smell). I have found that with this setup, flipping the bacon doesn't get you much.

I've used all kinds of lame cooling racks, for various purposes, in cooking school, in pastry school and on the job. This is EASILY the best one I have ever used! It is absoloutely worth the extra money, which is neglible when the commensurate increase in quality is considered.
