(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Culinary Kudzu: Recollections and Recipes from Growing Up Southern (Paperback)
When I began reading Keetha DePriest Reed's Culinary Kudzu: Recollections and Recipes from Growing Up Southern, I had to stop and check out family names. The stories were so familiar, I had to make sure we really were not kin. Not only the stories were familiar, but Reed's collection includes many of the best recipes that show up on many a holiday table in the Mississippi Delta. She also captures Delta landmarks and traditions, and makes you want to call your sister and your cousins so they can laugh with you as you read out loud. Wait! Did I mention food? What's a Delta tradition without food? Reed includes some of the best recipes that have become Delta mainstays, and some that are new additions and just darn good as she reveals the secrets of gracious and relaxed Southern hospitality. If you grew up Southern, you are going to want to read this book. If you didn't grow up Southern, you are going to want to know all about it. And everybody that does read this book is going to want to celebrate friends, families, food and traditions no matter where they grew up.

What a charming peek into year round Southern living. This read, peppered with photos, is an entertaining combination cookbook, story book, and history of growing up in the South. Whatever the season or occasion, you'll find a recipe to try.
If you are a collector of cookbooks, this is definately one to add to your collection!
