5.0 out of 5 stars Food Fun in the Mississippi Delta
When I began reading Keetha DePriest Reed's Culinary Kudzu: Recollections and Recipes from Growing Up Southern, I had to stop and check out family names. 3.0 out of 5 stars Charm and Good Cooking
What a charming peek into year round Southern living. This read, peppered with photos, is an entertaining combination cookbook, story book, and history of growing up in the South. Whatever the season or occasion, you'll find a recipe to try.
If you are a collector of cookbooks, this is definately one to add to your collection!

When I began reading Keetha DePriest Reed's Culinary Kudzu: Recollections and Recipes from Growing Up Southern, I had to stop and check out family names. The stories were so familiar, I had to make sure we really were not kin. Not only the stories were familiar, but Reed's collection includes many of the best recipes that show up on many a holiday table in the Mississippi Delta. She also captures Delta landmarks and traditions, and makes you want to call your sister and your cousins so they can laugh with you as you read out loud. Wait! Did I mention food? What's a Delta tradition without food? Reed includes some of the best recipes that have become Delta mainstays, and some that are new additions and just darn good as she reveals the secrets of gracious and relaxed Southern hospitality. If you grew up Southern, you are going to want to read this book. If you didn't grow up Southern, you are going to want to know all about it. And everybody that does read this book is going to want to celebrate friends, families, food and traditions no matter where they grew up.

As a newlywed, I love the way the Keetha combines rich family
stories with simple recipes. I loved her stories that express the
joy of cooking for and with your family. Culinary Kudzu is my new favorite wedding present to give! I can't wait until the new book comes out! (Come on Keetha...hurry up...it's wedding season!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Keetha's Mom Says..., May 27, 2003

Even though I read the book in sections as it was written, I still thoroughly enjoyed reading it front to back. And I still laughed at all the antics.

Many people have told me that they could not put the book down, once they started reading it. To me, that's the mark of a great book.

She may be my daughter, but I'm stating without hesitation that this is a wonderful read. I believe everyone will enjoy this book, whether a cook or not. (And the book makes an excellent "happy" or favor or gift.)

It's very entertaining, and I'm looking forward to the next one!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not a Cook Book Fan, but Love this Book, October 23, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Culinary Kudzu: Recollections and Recipes from Growing Up Southern (Paperback)
I am not a fan of cook books. But I was attracted to this one cause it had a definite southern theme. This is much more than just a cook book. It's got cute little antecdotes about southern living. As a former Tallahasseean I found this to be a very entertaining read. And the cover art is just outstanding.

Giving this 4 stars only because I'm not an expert on cooking, so I can't really judge the recipes. But they sound delicious.
