5.0 out of 5 stars Just as expected
As far as the product goes, this was an actual Culligan brand, just like the ad said, and this purchase was direct from Amazon. My prior filter purchase was from a reseller who said I'd get a Culligan, but what I got the previous time wasn't.

1.0 out of 5 stars Also did not get Level 4
I ordered this Jan 5, 2010, despite other warnings, thinking I might get lucky and get the right filter, and if not, at least amazon is usually good about returns. Sure enough, I only got the cheapo filter for taste, odor and sediment, not level 4 as advertised. I don't know what to do now to find a quality replacement filter!

I got the free shipping, and I guess you get what you pay for. It was free. There was no visible activity via online shipping tracking for a few days, then all of a sudden the package was in my hometown. It would at least make us think we're happier if there was more feedback earlier, but hey, it was free, right?

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Made In USA, August 13, 2010
This review is from: Culligan D-250A Level 4 Sediment Replacement Cartridge Set 2-pack (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have used the D-250 filters for almost ten years and have been very satisified up until now. After starting to replace the filters I noticed that the end caps for the carbon filters were both detached. I looked at the old filter to see if the caps were loose and they were both fastened securely. The outside of the package stated "Made in USA", but upon further investigation the filters were stamped "China" on the side of the filter. I examined the old filters and they were stamped USA. So apparently the Culligan filters are now being manufactured in China instead of the U.S. With all of the issues with heavy metals in children's toy's from China, I really don't trust these filters. I think I would trust drinking my tap water more than trusting what the filters might add to my drinking water. I really don't like the fact that the outside label of the Culligan filters state "Made in USA", but then I find out they're really made in CHina. If they hadn't been broken, I probably wouldn't have noticed. Caveat Emptor.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy, February 6, 2010

The company charges more for these Culligan D-250A filters
but ships the cheeper non Culligan brand filters.
So u may as well just buy the cheeper non Culligan brand filter.
In fact after this experience I am not sure I would trust anything on Amazon again.
especially since both filters are listed by the same company on Amazon ... so its a bait and switch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stick with Culligan v. knock-offs, December 19, 2011

This review is from: Culligan D-250A Level 4 Sediment Replacement Cartridge Set 2-pack (Tools & Home Improvement)
I've had my under sink filter system for many years and tried all types of filter cartridges including GE and no name knock-offs. Culligan's cartridges seem to work the best. They're easy to change and very little charcoal dust flushes out when you begin running the water. The water is very clear and takes good. Highly recommend you stick with the Culligan brand.

1.0 out of 5 stars this is NOT a level 4 filter, December 9, 2011
This review is from: Culligan D-250A Level 4 Sediment Replacement Cartridge Set 2-pack (Tools & Home Improvement)

what i received is rated for taste/sediment/odor, but NOT a level 4 filter.
a level 4 filter would remove much more, including pesticides, herbicides, etc.
also does NOT have NSF certification.

1.0 out of 5 stars Factory Seconds or Excessive Shelf Life?, July 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Culligan D-250A Level 4 Sediment Replacement Cartridge Set 2-pack (Tools & Home Improvement)
I've been using these specific filters for about 10 yrs for my undersink Culligan filtration system. I've never had a problem with any of these filters until I began doing business with this distributor, WaterFiltersOnline.com. I've had problems with the carbon filter twice now, both times from this distributor, both times the carbon filter never stopped releasing carbon fines into the drinking water. The first time I didn't say anything, I just went down to the local Ace Hardware store and bought another set. The second time, I contacted the company. They directed me to their return policy which states all merchandise to be returned must be in original packaging and in unused condition, (also accompanied by receipt, their email, and their RMA). The return policy is impossible to comply with since I wouldn't know I had a defective filter forever releasing excessive carbon until I installed it and used for longer than a week or two (since it takes about a week for the carbon filter to stop releasing carbon - normally). But WaterFiltersOnline probably knows this. The only problems I have ever had with the Culligan D250A filters have been when I began doing business with WaterFiltersOnline.com. I can only assume these must be either factory seconds (unlikely) or have been sitting on a shelf for some excessive period of time (more likely), or they have been handled roughly (also more likely). I will go back to buying from Ace Hardware.
