Great Filter, works with my GE Whole House Unit. Stared using these instead of the FXHTC GE Model filters, these are cheaper and have the same micron rating.

Let me start off by saying that 5 years ago, we moved to a place with VERY rusty (iron-filled) water. It was so stinky that it made me gag when I would brush my teeth and all of our sinks, toilets, washing machine, and dishwasher were streaky with orange, rust smears. We purchased a whole house water filtration system and it has made a HUGE difference. We were using the brand of filters that came with the system, but they are not available in very many places. I have tried several different brands and none of them lasted very long. Finally, I found this Culligan water filter on Amazon and ordered it. I just ordered my second one to replace the first and we realized that the first one had lasted twice as long as other brands. Plus, it was the same price as some of the other types! We will stick with the Culligan filter.

We use this filter for our well that has lots of sediment, It is hard to find in our area. Great price, we order 2 at a time since we have to change the filter every month.

I have gone through eight of these cartridges and I like them. I have two GE GXWH40L filters in series in my water system, and this Culligan cartridge fits in them perfectly. My well water has a sulfur smell and these carbon filters do the job of eliminating it. For me the cartridge lasts about a month, but the life expectancy is totally dependent on your individual water quality and water usage. The pressure drop of this filter cartridge is less than 3 psi. Unless you have a lot of sediment, I don't think that it is necessary to have a separate sediment filter if you are going to use this carbon filter, because this has spun fibers on the outside that will catch sediment before it even gets to the carbon inside.

What is there to say? The filters work as they are supposed to work; we have a lot of iron and sediment in our well water, and the whole-house filter really makes a difference; the filter lasts about 4 months.

Purchased this filter to replace a GE FXHTC type filter as the specs looked the same and some reviewers said they would fit in a standard 10" filter housing. Yes, they fit BUT they are actually 0.20" TOO SHORT for a normal housing (note specification correctly states 9.8" not 10.0"). I took my housing apart after measuring the filters I ordered here and verified that it will fit but the seal will not be made properly and some water will bypass the filter, minimizing, if not eliminating the effectiveness of the filter. Some reviewers mentioned that these lasted longer, and yes, if you are bypassing the filter for some of the water, yup, the filter will last longer but you have dirtier water. I still gave the 3 star rating as the filters looked nice and had good specs but it will not work correctly (even though it "fits") in housings other than the culligan housing or others that accept 9.8" filters... If you have a 10" housing, verify the working height of the filter required, your housing may work with a 9.8" filter. But if not, consider these GE FXHTC SmartWater Whole House Filter Replacement Cartridge and yes, more expensive but they will work properly, which is the point isn't it? I've purchased these from Home Depot for years and can get about 6 months each on city water and do a good job of removing the "swimming pool and baby diapers" from our city water... Had to return the Culligan ones I purchased here to Amazon. Not a fault of the filter, just got burned by the other reviewers saying they would fit...Yes, but... Fool me once... ;)

While it's unrealistic to think there's a single all-purpose filter that will do the perfect job on any particular well, this filter comes closer than any others I've tried. Its rather short effective life can be extended on some wells by putting a sediment-only filter upstream from it.

I have been very satisfied with this filter and have been using it to filter our well water, which comes in with lots of sediment of all types. I need to mention though, that the product information here says this filter lasts 3 months or up to 5,000 gallons and on the package that I received, it says 6 months or up to 10,000 gallons. So that means that this product actually is much cheaper (50% cheaper, to be exact) than I thought. I hope that the vendor will correct this!

I don't know much about water filters, other than that we are really happy with this one, we love using the subscribe & save option, which reminds us to change the filter (I had to change the delivery from 3 to 6 months) and I really wanted you to know there is an error here. Everything else is correct.

Recommended.
