Not acceptable,
I was quite surprised to learn that the filter is not designed to be water sealed. While the installation direction clearedly says that it is required to apply Teflon tape, it still feels like a 19th centry technolodgy. On the bright side, a small scroll of the said tape is included in the package.
The installation is easy and simple. Unfortunately, when we attached our shower head back and tested it for the first time, the filter could not sustain the water pressure and broke into two pieces. Luckily the only casualty was our light bulb. Item returned without much of discussion. I hope this company's got a good return policy.

Shower Filters Are A Must; Which One Is The Key!,
By
This review is from: Culligan SR-115 Shower Filter (White)
I have used this filter for at least 6 months.
PROS: -It Works!: When hot chlorinated water comes out of the shower it creates gases which you can inhale. Also, the hot water opens the pores of your skin which allows the chlorine in the water to be absorbed. This unit is effective in chlorine removal which is said to reduce itchiness, rashes, sensitive skin conditions, etc IF they are chlorine related. -It Makes a Difference: My experience has been that the de-chlorinated water leaves my skin less tight/dry. Now, when I use a shower w/o a filter, it feels like I've been n a swimming pool too long. -Easy to Install: I agree that the previous reviewer may have had trouble because he/she turned on the shower full power before allowing the filter to fully soak with water. Just follow the directions & you'll be fine. CONS: -It Does Not Remove VOC`s(volatile organic chemicals that vaporize and can be inhaled or absorbed through the skin potentially causing adverse health and cosmetic effects), heavy metals and other specific chemicals. -It is not designed to enhance the pH of the water -Only a 5,000 gallon water filtration capacity. 10,000 gallon is the standard. This may be cheaper up front and more expensive in the long run. Summary: -Shower filters are a must to remove excessive chlorine residual in the shower water for the same reasons you need to remove it from your drinking water. -This is a Good basic filter for Chlorine removal. For those who don't want to spend $70 to get the Aquasana AQ-4100 Deluxe, I recommend the Culligan ISH-100 bcz it is cheaper than this model ($18.99 vs $32.02), has a longer capacity(10,000 gallons vs 5,000 gallons), higher chlorine removal (97% vs 95%) & free shipping now. Although I'm satisfied with this model, I will purchase a higher quality, longer lasting filter next go round. I will still use this in the guest shower as a treat for overnight guests. -I Hope This Helped!

Great shower filter,

I bought this shower filter to combat the horrible city water that we have. I don't drink the water so why would I want to put it in my hair and on my skin! In the first use I could tell a great difference in the texture of my hair. Hopefully over time it will also help my skin that is dry (most likely from the quality of water). This was quick and easy to install and I am no plumber! I will be telling my neighbors about this product, it is well worth the money. I will be buying replacement filters so they will be here when I need them.

WPOS (Worthless Piece of ...),
This review is from: Culligan SR-115 Shower Filter (White)
I bought two. Tried to install the first one, over-tightened and broke. Tried to install the second, being extra careful not to over-tighten it -- it would either leak or break. Buy a different filter.

Trouble free for a few years now.,

I can't understand why this shower filter has a few bad reviews. I've had this shower fitler for a few years now, replacing the filter a few times as well, and it has been trouble free. As far as leaks, you need to use the teflon or nylon white plumbing tape, and that should take care of it.
