The Cello Masters Art, April 3, 2009
This review is from: Cult (Audio CD)
I picked this cd up for the first time when it had first come out here in the States. I was not disappointed! A MUST for all Apocalyptica fans.
"Path Vol 2" - the first ever Apo song with vocals. Sandra Nassic from the late band Guano Apes does a fantastic job.
Struggle - The opening grips you like the edge of an old school horror movie and then takes you into a brilliant mix of heavy and softer cello noise.
Romance - beautiful. Timeless. It takes you in, relaxes your nerves. A calm and haunting piece.
Pray! - Think of a war zone. Or some intense adrenaline charged moment. Add "Pray!" to it and it's the perfect soundtrack.
In Memoriam - This one starts our sorrowful and blossoms into beautiful yet precise chaos. Definitely one of the harder tracks on the cd.
Hyperventilation - Intense and aggressive this one will reach out and grab you. The speed that they get to with their playing is fantastic.
Beyond Time - Opening up with sounds of Finnish nature this is a welcoming calm track. Beautiful and addictive.
Hope - I prefer Hope Vol 2 with Matze Sayer on vocals but this one is great too.
Kaamos - beautiful opening leading into a more aggressive sound. One of my Apo favs.
Coma - freaky and beautiful. Interesting that they recorded this live in a church.
Hall of the Mountain King - A staple for their live shows this is one of the best covers ever. This recorded version is NOTHING compared to the song live.
Until It Sleeps - Metallica has their cover place on the album with this song. I personally prefer it to the original.
Fight Fire With Fire - Again, Apo borrows a song from Metallica and makes it their own. I used to be a huge metallica fan but honestly I can hardly listen to them after what Apo has done with their music. They took something great and made it spectacular.
Path - the instrumental version of the song. Definitely the more rock metal sound of Apo. Love this song!

I bought this to round out my collection of work by these guys and am really glad that I did. I'm not a professional music critic so I won't even try to go there. I just think it's a [...] recording and am glad to own it!
