Editorial Reviews

An intellectual and off-beat comedy set in New York, the films main character, Joseph, starts a "cult of sincerity" to confront the perceived unhappiness, cynicism, and boredom of his generation. He wants to find something to believe in, something simple enough to put on a T-shirt. Reminiscent of Don Quixote, Joseph sets off to find the most genuine thing you could ever say to someone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cult of Sincerity November 30, 2008
By G-Cool
Format:DVD
This film really made me think and I'm sure it will change my life for the better. At least I hope so. Although I am not usually a fan of contemporary movies because so few of them are worthwhile, "Cult" is an exception. And, don't be turned off by the inclusion of the word "cult" in the title. This is in no way a wierd or creepy film. It makes serious points in a very entertaining way. It is worth your time. G-Cool

4.0 out of 5 stars Something to chew on April 12, 2013
Format:Amazon Instant Video|Verified Purchase
I wouldn't say I loved it, but it got me thinking. Or rather made me wonder if I should be thinking about these things at all. There are some really fresh moments in it, that I enjoyed. If you want to ponder "the New Sincerity", if you want to wander if it's even worth pondering, or interested in multiple levels of hypocrisy (a loaded term, but I don't mean it in an entirely negative way), then watch this film.

Great film, will watch it many times and will create some good conversation starters with friends and family. The actor playing Joseph was wonderful.
