I lived much of my life in this area, it is so true of the elements. It is such a good book of sorrow, hope and perseverance. My family told me stories of life just like in the book. It was recommended to me by my son--it is just good history.

Very well written series which gives the reader a true sense of what our immigrant ancestors endured. This series is as good or better than Linda Hubalek's first series of books.

Linda Hubalek has really given me a feel for the life that my Swedish and Norwegian families lived as they came to America under similar conditions.

Excellent read. I was touched by the losses she endured and still plugging along. Most of us would have given up...the hardships were incredible . I want to read the others in the series.

Three of my ancestors were Swedish, who ended up in Oklahoma. Wow, they were all sturdy and determined! I am now looking at my family note with much more insite.

The editing is really terrible. It was very distracting and annoying to keep running across misspelled words and awful punctuation. Too bad because it could have been a great story.
