This review is from: Cultural Anthropology: An Introduction (Paperback)
Ida Magli, Italy's most original cultural anthropologist, examines the growth of reflection concerning cultures. Moving from a historical perspective frequently lacking in texts written by other anthropologists and sociologists, her provocative observations are both clearly expressed and steeped in the flavor of philosophy. Magli's exploration of anthropology's discovery of women will be continued in later works (in particular, History of Christian Women, soon to be published by McFarland), as will her clarification of the rapport between anthropology and psychoanalysis.
