Nancy speaks the plain truth: American Women are killing themselves and their families over their complete selfishness. We wonder why our community's children act out as they do and we can clearly see that the root of their demise is due to their mothers' (and fathers') self-interests. Being a feminist doesn't mean that we need to ignore and destroy our children's lives.

All women AND men should read this book, to get a clear understanding of the past and how they can change their lives. We worry about the world's environment; yet we neglect our human and cultural environment. Such neglect will damage the human race beyond compare. It would be a travesty to have a beautiful world but have incompetent human relations.

Nancy, thank you for clearly demonstrating how we as American women need to wake-up and take back our feminine power while strengthening our children. I bought your book for my Grandfather who, at age 88, has seen a lot. He completely agrees with your words...American women need to look at the past and re-plant themselves so that they have strong roots for America's future.

4.0 out of 5 stars Needs polishing, but truthful subject matter, April 5, 2008

This review is from: The Cultural Devastation of American Women: The Strange and Frightening Decline of the American Female (and her dreadful timing) (Paperback)
Nancy Levant has done a good job of examining the problems with socialist feminism and the destruction of the family unit. Unlike many other authors, she does so in a non-religious fashion, while being realistic about today's economic realities. She also recognizes the tremendous value women have in the world and that their work should be rewarding and recognized. She speaks the truth about the future of the world, when children are devalued, and that devaluing children has nothing to do with recognizing the worth of women. I'm positive most readers of this book personally know women like the ones portrayed in this book. In spite of the author's admonitions to the reader to examine herself to see if she is a women like the ones described in this book, these types of women (the ones who most need to read this book), won't be the ones reading the book. Hopefully as the topics in this book become part of the public discourse, the unhappy women described in this book will start to learn that there is another way of living--a way of life that produces peace and harmony, rathern than unhappiness and disintegration of the family. The typographical errors in the book did produce a minor destraction--hopefully the author will use better proofreader for future editions. I also, would have preferred a traditional book lay out (ie with numbered chapters), rather than the unnumbered essay type layout. The content of the book alone is worth 5 stars, but I'm giving an overall rating of 4 stars, due to the distraction of the typographical errors & book layout.

I enjoyed reading the book, but had mixed feelings. It was more of a validation then anything else. The very people who need to be explosed to these concepts (i.e. to open their eyes) are the very people who will NOT read this book, and if it was given to them by somebody to enlighten them, they would likely scoff at it (as the author indicates)

Firstly, it was a very good summary of the problem with American women. (Actually women all over the modern world exhibit similar problems). I especially related to the chapter "The mental Illness of Beauty". Most people think I'm nuts when I give my opinion that when women focus on beauty over all else, they corrupt their souls - subconcounsly defining themselves by external factors defined by the corporate media/glamour driven world (a certain look, clothese, attitude, etc.). They then subconcoiusly expect their mates to have the same values, and to have the equivalent external look on the male side. This then has the effect of subordinating important things like values, intelligent, passion, curiosity, etc -- all the things that really make up human. It's nice to know I'm not alone.

One thing about the book that at first really annoyed me, is that the author's view of men seems to be that we are mostly all the same - shallow, childish, etc. I'm sick of getting categorized in with all the other idiot men out there. I can't stand most men for those very reasons, and I'm not like most of them. And I unfairly suffer as a result that most women think I'm like most men -- because I'm a man. Especially if I exhibit Alpha Male characteristics, which I do, but they have no concept of my level of complexity and capability for compassion, because we have been programmed to put people into buckets. But, then I realized well, this is actually a good reminder that most women DO treat me like I'm like all the other guys. And then author acknolwedges that not all guys are like this, but she does have a tendency to not recognize the reason WHY guys are like this. We have been trampled on by our mothers and our society. To women out there, knowing what you know about the way women treat men, would YOU want to be a man, dating a women??!

Another thing that annoyed me a bit, was the author is explaining people's behavior from a clearly biased experience. She runs a day care center, and she sees people from a select group who will have a tendency to act a certain way.

But the biggest annoyance has nothing to do with the author. It's that if you read this book, all it will do is validate what you already know. The question is what can be done about it. Our culture is infected with media and corporate influenced behavior to make us buy STUFF, and help ensure we don't start asking our politicians important questions. The best thing this book can do is remind men that they don't have to put up with the crap that women dish out at us. We have the power of choice in who we mate with. Of course that's a tall order, sex is a powerful instict. (Listen to the song "Tommorrow's Girls" by Donald Fagan).

The vast majority of women who are infected with the culture virus of the modern female will not pay any attention. Only when men stop putting up with this crap will anything change. But men's power and intelligence has been taken away from them. Women are offended by a true male. A man of power yet compassion. A man who has an intuitive, compassionate, passionate, feminine side. Women are totally confused, and when they run across a real man they have no clue.

And by the way, don't criticize men for hanging around with other men putting down women. They deserve it. This is not some ignorant callous remark -- it has complexity that most people could not begin to understand. Not because they're not intellectually capable of understanding it, because they don't want to.

Kudos to the author for having the courage and determination to make a statement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Out of the mouth of babes..., October 22, 2006

This review is from: The Cultural Devastation of American Women: The Strange and Frightening Decline of the American Female (and her dreadful timing) (Paperback)
In this book, Nancy Levant extends a compassionate rebuke to the American mother and career woman. Drawing upon her experience as a daycare professional, she offers insight into the thoughts, feelings, and diets of America's children in daycare - all of which have suffered because of the woman's repudiation of the traditional role of motherhood.

"Mommy says Daddy is an idiot."
"Dad says mommy should cook dinner for us."
"Dad is never home."
"Daddy says mommy is never home."
"When's mom coming?"
"When's dad coming?"
"Why are they always late?"
"Did mommy forget to get me?"
"If they don't come, can I stay with you?"

Repeatedly quoting her daycare children, Levant opens a window into the family life of the contemporary household, and the contemporary woman who makes it. The perspective provided is unique and rare, as it is one that is seen through the eyes of the child.

Humbly acknowledging her own failures as wife and parent, the author frankly speaks very directly to the women of America. She asserts women have largely rebelled against the traditional roles of mother and housewife, as these roles have been redefined by society and the media as repressive. While extolling the virtues of female liberation, she asserts, "The empowerment of women did come at a cost..."

Levant lambastes the modern "entitlement" attitude that is so prevalent today and that is heavily promoted by Hollywood and television entertainment news shows. It is this attitude, she believes, that has become a staple of the American female psyche, to the detriment of her family. "The difference between the upper and middle-class, is that the former spends other people's money to create wealth for themselves. We spend our money to mimic them."

Though this book will be a bitter pill for many women to swallow, its compassionate medicine is meant to heal women who are stressed to the breaking point by societal pressures. After outlining the problem, Levant extends a loving hand to these victimized women, and exhorts them to face reality.

"I think these women long for peace and safety... and are simply caught up in what may be the dumbest worldliness ever known... I believe that the self-inflicted burdens and mental pressures can be removed with truth."

In "The Cultural Devastation of American Women", Nancy Levant fingers a problem that this reader wasn't aware existed. The influence of mass media entertainment shows, which promote the notion that average, middle-class women can look and live like stars, has had a highly damaging effect on the family. And while men and fathers are to blame for society's ills as well, Levant makes her focus those who have primarily and historically been the nurturers of the children.

While reading the book, I found myself laughing even as I wanted to cry.

I laughed at the absurdity and irony of the excesses, and inconsistencies of the daycare mothers with which the author has had experiences. And I was filled with nostalgic sadness as I pondered, with the author, the loss of the great female role models, which have shaped society throughout history.

Every woman will likely see a little of herself within these pages. Indeed, the author begins with humility. "I am the person who could be despised because of this book. I am the person who has made every single mistake that there is to make... I am the worst of the worst."

An easy, compelling, and often humorous read, Nancy's book is one that I hope will be well-received and taken to heart. I hope all will enjoy it as much as this reader has.

5.0 out of 5 stars CULTURAL DEVASTATION OF WOMEN: best book I ever read, January 18, 2011
This review is from: The Cultural Devastation of American Women: The Strange and Frightening Decline of the American Female (and her dreadful timing) (Paperback)
Nancy Levant is the most bold, courageous and creative writer stating the truth about ruthless globablism, or the new brand of communism called "communitarianism" which includes feminism. Kids are not taught "truth" but rather sit around "consensus tables" with the teacher at the back. It's not truth, but consensus that matters. This has merged with the feminist movement, a part of globalism and eugenics, to not only dumb down women but make them vain and selfish--so much so that they can't take care of themselves let alone children and pets. Truly good mothers, on the other hand, are separated from their children and become very depressed without knowing why. It's because they're in the shopping mall, mirror or make-up--on the go to their workout, trainer, entertainment, travel. They are chatty, social, superficial, shallow, gossipy, untrustworthy and they abuse men, children and pets. If the globalists want to bring us all down, they do it through this phony feminist movement, because behind every powerful and good man is a powerful and good woman. The globalists and big pharma now control the schools and the day care centers with the agenda to drug women and children. So destroy womanhood, destroy culture. Without family to protect, they become mindless robots for the state: "useless eaters". Where there's mindless petty vanity, women lack heart. Women have become hard-hearted, while traditionally it was female tenderness that renewed strength in their men and children. And American feminists are very ungrateful: here they NATURALLY had the rights denied to women all over the world, because their own men FOUGHT for that right. But in becoming manly mad tanks merging with the corporate globalist agenda [of BIG PHARMA DRUGS AND ABORTION, or eugenics] they threw it all away. Their men lost homes and affection, marriage became a grenade range as women demanded "respect". All men wanted was peace! Well then mankind turned to each other, or sports, or tell-a-vision. They too became fat, lethargic, zombies with beach ball bellies! It was the traditional female instincts of family and home that kept this culture inline. But that is no longer the case due to you feminists--ok, fine!

3.0 out of 5 stars References please, May 3, 2007
This review is from: The Cultural Devastation of American Women: The Strange and Frightening Decline of the American Female (and her dreadful timing) (Paperback)
A reviewer wrote "There is nothing new in this book that hasn't been already been covered ad nauseum by writers who have an actual talent for writing."

I ask that you please cite the other books or works that you feel are better; otherwise your comment is meaningless and not at all helpful.

When someone "disses" a book it would be a great help if they could provide the names and authors of the other books they feel cover the subject better.

This book tells the truth about many things concerning women in America . Many women will probably not like a lot of what it says but it's truth. If you really care for the well being of your children I would take her words of wisdom to heart.
Nancy Levant is an American woman of rare wisdom.

Nancy Levant is a great and informed author and all of her material is worthy of deep cosideration. This is a must read for mothers of teen age children. I purchased it for my 18 year old grandson. It taught him much about how to handle the current "crop of females" and their nasty speach and actions toward males in high school. Pauline Adamson, Red Lodge,MT.

This person has little talent for writing and less talent for presenting an intelligent argument. Although I agree with the title, this book is nothing more than 180 pages of whining and bashing of the feminist and men.

Though her own opinions and lack of insight, she is a product of dysfunctional female thought programmed by western culture. It is like she has an inkling that something is wrong, and it is, but she has no concrete idea as to how to put it together or express it beyond whining. Her research into the subject is the opinions of her and other children that have all been programmed by the liberal schools.

There are far better books that present better arguments beyond constand belittlement of men and whining about how women are creating a unhealthy environment and culture.

Poorly written with odd punctuation and redundant language, it is clear this was published solely because of the sheer sensationalism of the subject matter. Sadly, Ms Levant's position could have been an interesting read were not for the sophomoric writing and her inability to make a cogent argument. There is nothing new in this book that hasn't been already been covered ad nauseum by writers who have an actual talent for writing.
