The literary theory Literature as Cultural Ecology implies the notion that literature, in imaginatively bringing together various discourses, may release new potential for the extra-textual, cultural world. They serve as metaphorical cultural ecosystems. The Book of Daniel and The Tortilla Curtain gain a unique status in that they have the power to interact with their readers and may serve as a source of cultural self-exploration, self-preservation, and self-renewal. About the Author

Annike B. Hüske was born in Germany in 1979. She spent a High School year near Boston, USA. This experience encouraged her to major in American Literature at the University of Münster. She graduated with a M.A. Degree. Having spent much time in foreign countries, she is convinced of the importance of cultural exchange and works in this field.
