I used this text for two students in a homeschool environment without any aids. We used this text about 4 years ago, so that would have been about 2008 or 2009, maybe. I was excited to see this book. It was packed full of information, and I am the type of person who overdoes everything. If we study Egypt, I am going to purchase every recommended book on Egypt. So this book appeared to fit my teaching style. However, the reality is that this text was very hard to get through, was as boring as could be, and we spent so much time just trying to get it done that there was no time for anything to make the class interesting-readers, videos, crafts, nothing. The tests would ask for the craziest details...that I wondered why is that important? We made flashcards and drilled all these useless facts. Another family at church was using this, and we'd meet after church and try to support each other. It was so hard to get through although they made good grades. Actually, I think that they were making C's while studying like crazy, so by about chapter 5?, I began modifying the program to be more doable. The kids did learn about countries that we did not even know existed, but they also thought, after this class, that they hated geography. I did something less intense but more engaging with my younger son when he was in high school, and he didn't have to memorize all these crazy facts, just the important things...currency, language, capital, climate, location, flag, etc. He remembered more than the older two. They even complained when they saw what he was doing later...something about being unfair? We enjoyed BJUP in elementary; I've not been very pleased with the few subjects that I have tried in high school with the exception of the French. Just FYI on background, I am a trained teacher with a master's degree and my kids were A students who are excelling now in college.

I would be very surprised if this person is a teacher at all. Liberals constantly lie and mask their true identities.

Thanks for the review! I am definitely going to purchase this book!

By the way, name one country that has a perfect historical background? The United States beats all of them "in spades."
