David Livermore has written a book that fills a unique space. There are many books about why Cultural Intelligence is important, and many about what CQ actually is. But this book addresses the issue on a more fundamental basis: how to improve your CQ. I do a lot of international travel, but I also live in a multi-cultural community, so this book is a wonderful tool. I'm already recommending it to everybody I know!

In this book the ivory tower version of CQ has been demystified. There is no more PhD level talk about this research, that theory or what is happening. It is the most practical book on the application of CQ in one's life, whether it be personal or business. It is not a step by step recipe book but rather give you and outline of how to increase your CQ as CQ is a very personal measurement.

Highly recommended for anyone who will be or is in cross-cultural situations. As a CQ business-consultant / trainer / coach this should be mandatory reading for anyone who's life will encounter another culture not of his own.

The David Livermore difference is that he consistently uses his own cultural intelligence by recognizing the wide range of audience that he writes to regarding CQ. While many authors create their works with the mind to impress the elite of the academic world, David stays true to his academic roots, yet prepares a meal of wisdom and practical tools for all that consume his writing. As an academic, I am compelled by his articulate thoughts, as a practitioner, he removes the work of finding practical ways to express CQ, and gave me tools to implement today. Just reading this book will increase your CQ . It's that good. Thanks Dr. Livermore.

Disappointed so far. Rave reviews on the cover must be for another version because I don't see it here. But, there is another half to go, and I'll update when I cross the finish-line. Until then....

If you need to use this book for class/work, etc, do not buy it used. There is a quiz that accompanies it that you use the book to learn from that is one time use only. This means if you get it used and the quiz has been taken, you won't have the self-assessment that some classes require, so you will have to find the quiz individually or buy a new copy. I didn't know before buying it used, so I just wanted to make sure others did as well!

The book came in the mail very quickly. It was in the condition specified by the sender. I am very happy with my purchase.

I"m giving the book a decent rating because other readers have and I don't want to be unfair to the author, but I have spent half the afternoon playing with family wish lists, making comparisons, and putting item in my cart, occasionally saving one or two for later. Imagine how thrilled I was to come back less than two hours later and find that the price of the book had gone up by $6 or 7!! In two hours?? Come on! And, yes, on our family budget, that much makes a difference.

I'm well aware that Amazon jacks around with prices to its heart's content, but this wasn't a goldbox deal or one of those limited time things. For heaven's sake, can't you keep the price of an item the same for at least one freaking day? Now I'm afraid to go back to my cart and try to check out again, to see if the other items have all lost their discounts!

Amazon, there are some good customer service features you have, but this sure ain't one of them. I will not be buying the book this time around and will likely be checking other sources now.
