culturally responsive?,

WOW, is my best description for this book. It provides tons of information on how to teach according to the diverse cultures that exist within my classroom. Many activities that I would not have thought to do before. My students behaviours and learning styles make much more sense now.

This review is from: Creating Culturally Responsive Classrooms (Psychology in the Classroom) (Paperback)
This book was required for a graduate class on diversity in the classroom. It offers insight on the way students of different racial and ethnic background learn best. It provides ideal examples of how to change the classroom to make a specific group more comfortable.
All in all, strategies offered can relate to any person of any color. They spell out respect, good teaching, variety of techniques, etc. I found it somewhat elementary and a repeat of knowledge I had already gained through other classes. This book is for beginning teachers or those who have not been exposed to a variety of races in the classroom. Still considered a good book, but not a must for a teacher's library. |
