i haven't written an amazon review in a very very long time. but this album is not only the most underrated album of 2004, but also the best (so far). culture for pigeon deserves as much attention as possible.tracy + the plastics deliver a suprise. this a total departure from the first 2 cds. if the first two discs were like a screaming teenager that just wants your attention than culture for pigeon is more mature.... like a mid-twenty year old who's just figured things out (or at least starting to). it's a pause... a breath of fresh air. culture for pigeon is a moment in time. i don't know if this cd will be relevant in six month, five years or a hundred. but it makes sense right now in this world... how this world is today. it's sad and funny and touching and somehow very human. this is more a ramble than a review. just buy this cd. do yourself a favor. and see the show live if you can.

PLAYLIST:1. Big Stereo 2. Knit A Claw 3. Henrietta 4. Happens 5. Save Me Claude 6. Quaasars 7. Cut Glass 8. Oh Birds 9. This Is Dog-City 10. What You Still Want 11. Mountain Muscler's Guide To Videonics was brilliant, and Forever Sucks was amazing, but this honestly blows those two away, something I didn't think possible. Wynne Greenwood has one of the best voices I have ever heard and uses it so well on this album. This a bit not slower but less fast album than the others. "Oh Birds" and "Happens" are quiet and use primarily organ but are soo very good. It impresses me that they can make loud pulsing dance music as well music that is so slow achingly sad and beautiful. So to sum up, please please buy this record. I bought it well over a month ago and I listen to at least once a day. And go see them live; truly a life changing expierience.

ok so this album is the best album of '04. i know the year is only half over, but i dont see how it can be topped. i loved tracy + the plastics first album, which sounded kind of like experimental-nintendo-lez-synth-punk, and the forever sucks ep (sadly unavailable on amazon, try chainsawrecords.com) which was much in the same vein. but this album is definitely a turn in the more artistic-emotional direction, or at least seems more accessibly emotional. the slower songs are gut wrenchingly beautiful, and the danc-y songs are just as great as anything from the first album or ep. there is a definite influence from wynne's new love interest j.d. (from le tigre) as i think a couple of the songs sound a little le tigre-ish. but no worries! le tigre rules and tracy + the plastics have my spot of album of the year already!
