Hardly cutting edge!,
By Roger Jobson (Alameda, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Culture Shock! Burma (Cultureshock Myanmar: A Survival Guide to Customs & Etiquette) (Paperback)
This book is more of a guide for those wishing to conduct business and live in Burma (Myanmar) than it is for the average tourist. However, even for the business traveler, most of the recommendations are at best generalized, if not downright vague. Where this book succeeds is in the explanation of the basic customs and nature of the Burmese native.

The book needs to be updated to reflect current times. I was somewhat disappointed as to the elementary nature of the discriptions of daily life.

Excellent Book,

This book is THE book to learn about burmese customs and popular culture. Without this book, my burmese experience would have been very different, because I wouldn't have understood most of what I saw, in terms of people's behavior and local customs.
