5.0 out of 5 stars Da Yoopers' manisfestation is completed here! Yah!, October 19, 2005
This review is from: Culture Shock (Audio CD)
Starting as a 4-person band (Jim "Hoolie" DeCaire :drums & vocals/Joe Potila: guitar & vocals/Lynn Anderson Coffey: vocals & keyboards/Jim Pennel: Bass & vocals), dis tape expands da repit-tewr of Da Yoopers from bar-band clowns to full-on musical comedy troupe. "Culture Shock" introduces da listener to their first set of sketches such as "2 Chiquitos" (a uncredited scketch that starts off da song "Chiquito War"), "Talk Time" (a reacurring subject for Yooper sketches) & several of Glenn Adams' Yooper Stories, one introducing "Rusty Chevrolet" ("Bought dat car in 1965....") & da in-between antectdotes in da song "Yooper Talk" & da song dat put Da Yoopers on da map "2nd Week of Deer Camp" (It stayed in da #1 spot on da Dr. Demento Show for da 1st 20 weeks of 1989)wit da memorable opening line "Hey, Joe, I tink I see it!" (gunshots) "Hey! You shot my cow!" Dis cassette is out of print, though, but if you see a copy, grab it! I found mine in a Goodwill store!
