From Booklist
Gr. 3-5. This wide-ranging survey in the Culture In series will give readers a good sense of modern Vietnam's cultural diversity, from characteristic music and dress of selected ethnic minorities to glimpses of currently popular film stars and writers. Although there are no pictures to go with Guile's tantalizing descriptions of, for instance, water puppets or the klongput (a musical instrument), one or more color photos on every page, nearly all featuring human figures, add visual interest and detail. A lack of links to further resources further limits the value of this volume; consider it an additional entry to supplement Alison Imbriaco's Vietnam (2004) or Audrey Seah's newly revised Vietnam (2005). Others in the series, also by Guile, introduce India, Australia, and Malaysia. John Peters
