I have been taking some form of an acidophilus product every day for over 15 years and was recommended this brand by my GYN Doctor over 6 years ago. I have been taking 1 capsule every day since and have been very happy with the results. Although the product says that it doesn't need to be refrigerated, I always do unless I'm traveling - Plus I purchase the product directly from the manufacturer which comes shipped in a cold pack to preserve the potency. I have also found that the acidophilus works best when taken separate from my meals (at least 1/2 hour before and 3 hours after a meal).

I've had IBS for over 35 years. Unlike the other writer, I've only been taking Culturelle for 2 weeks and have noticed a big, big difference. The first noticeable (and completely unexpected) difference was fuller and easier elimination, as if I'd been doing a cleansing program. Two weeks later I notice that my digestion is much better, and that consequently my whole body is more relaxed because that digestive fight is not going on. It's like being able to take a deep breath again -- that kind of sense of well-being.

I will give Culturelle a 3 month test and then make a final determination. But so far I'm impressed.

It is now almost three years later, and I can tell you definitely that there are much better cultures out there, like Super Shield. Culturelle worked for a couple of weeks, but then stopped. I don't think it's strong enough.

I suffered with IBS-D for over fourteen years. It was debilitating and got so bad that I could hardly leave my house without extreme anxiety. I had to know where every bathroom on the road was, didn't enjoy time out with friends, always worried. Doctors put me through many tests, tried out "drying up" drugs on me, just told me it was IBS and something I'd have to learn to live with. I read about Culturelle and it's specific probiotic (Lactobacillus GG) in Reader's Digest. They were saying that it had been studied quite a bit and seemed to really help people with IBS-D. Why not give it a try? The first couple of weeks of taking it I was a little more gassy than usual, felt a bit "off". Between 2-3 weeks, however, my whole body began to work correctly again. I have not had ANY, I repeat ANY bouts of "D" since I started taking Culturelle daily over a year ago. After 14 years of dealing with IBS-D I still get nervous when I leave my house, but just keep realizing that my nightmare seems to have ended. I seriously have my life back and would encourage anyone with IBS-D to at least give this a shot. I think that perhaps taking too many antibiotics over the years killed my good bacteria and this was all that my guts really needed to become happy again. It changed my life. I can't guarantee that for everyone, but like I said... worth a try!! :)

I have had IBS for about 10 years. The first few years were very rough. I tried many prescription meds, diet alteration and a few different probiotics. IBS Advantage seemed to help me, but lost effectiveness after a few months. After that I tried culturelle and it seemed to greatly help. I am not 100% better, but with culturelle and changing my diet a bit (avoid high fructose corn syrup, lactose and spicy foods), I have alleviated my symptoms by about 80%. Culturelle is worth a try.

Its not at all what I hoped for, I have been taking this faithfully since I recieved it and yet nothing has happened to to take care of my constipation

I have taken this for an entire month and there has been no improvement in my health. Maybe it will work for you, but it doesn't cure anything, and definately not IBS.
