Some years ago, we stumbled upon these books at the library. They were an instant hit - every single one in the Sir Cumference series! We check out lots of books but this one the children remembered. In fact, we hadn't checked these out for a couple of years when one son started a new geometry section in math and asked me to get these again so he could review! My preschooler thinks of these as fun stories and enjoys the illustrations while the older crew is making the connections to mathematical concepts they are learning. For example, one child always keeps diameter and radius straight because of the book characters (Radius is the little guy!). I highly recommend this series as enjoyable literature that will help your children remember their geometry. The books also have an object or character (jester, seagull, rat, cat, etc.) that appears on most pages which is an extra bit of fun to look for. I love the rich colors and oil painting technique too (I may be wrong about the oil painting but that's the feel of it). I decided these belong in our home library and was especially pleased that Amazon was running its buy 3 get 1 free promotion just then.

I purchased the whole set for homeschooling purposes and it really drives home the concepts in a fun way with the kids not realizing they are learning geometry. This is as fun as Cyberchase in a book format. Highly recommend these!

This is a great book. It has lots of mathematical elements while also being fun for middle school students. I, as a math teacher, enjoyed reading this book to my students. The math terms that tie the book together are very creative in the way they are presented. If you are reading this book to a class of middle school students, it will take from ten to fifteen minutes to read completely if the class is attentive. The math described in the book can help students to remember those terms later.

Whatever it takes. This book combines knights and castles with geometric learning in a way that sneaks it in and makes it stick.

Both Stuart J. Murphy and Cindy Neuschwander have a talent for teaching math concepts to visual learners.

Wonderful book ..... this book is a great book for teaching geometric shapes. If you can help it though, do not buy it from ANY_BOOK!!! I received the book 5 business late. They said they would give me a refund but are now claiming no wrong doing!!! DO NOT BUY FROM ANY_BOOK!!!

I am a high school math teacher and LOVE this series of books. Written for young children, but it still helps my high school students understand basic concepts in a fun, creative way.

My 5 year old loves this series. As part of his homeschooling he wanted to write his own book review, so here it is.

A Review of the book Sword in the Cone by Cindy Neuschwander

Everything is nice about this book except for the end. The end is just about tests so it's not my favorite part. This book is exciting. It has a sword in it and a guy named Radius. I also like the part where they dig up the cones. It has some flattened out shapes that Radius and his friend need to make, and has a mysterious parchment. Kids that are interested in Harry Potter would probably like this book. -Braeden, age 5

It makes learning math fun. I think he is learning more about math than he even realizes.

What a fun way of learning some geometric ideas using the knights and castle theme!

This book (and series of books) will help personify various math concepts. This will aide in the teaching and understanding of the concepts, give a visual association for students, and the books are cute and fun and inexpensive.

We are enjoying this fun book as a way to illustrate geometry. Similarly, the other books in the series are just as good. Simple presentation of math concepts in a fairy tale format.
