La edición de Cuna de Lobos 2007 tiene una pésima musicalización de fondo. Esto arruina totalmente la obra como originalmente se presento al aire por TV. Inclusive el tema musical que daba comienzo esta totalmente cambiado, haciendo de este DVD una novela totalmente aburrida por su alteración original. Qué lastima, pues el drama de la novela es buenísimo pero estos nuevos cambios la convertido en algo que no vale la pena pagar por tener una copia de algo que en sus tiempo fue y ha sido una de las mejores novelas que la empresa Televisa ha hecho.

For about 4 years now, Televisa Home Video has been releasing abridged versions of their telenovelas/soap operas (or "serials" as they are known in Europe) and until now, they hadn't released any of their true classics but rather their most recent hits. It's nice that finally Televisa has acknowleded one of their finest productions.

"Cuna De Lobos" was more than a soap opera, it was a social phenomenon. It was a template of public discussion from all walks of life and generation. It was one of the rare topics of pop culture in Mexico in which both young and old found in common. The completely unrealistic villainry and situations somehow struck a chord with the public and provided hours of entertainment for the months this was on.

In a short summary, this telenovela is about Catalina Creel, a woman who was on the verge of divorce and in order to retain her fortune, poisons her husband for the inheritance only to find out he has left all his money to his yet-unprocreated grandchild. Her son, married to a barren woman, in turn engages a plot to gain a son while Catalina puts a stop to anyone who stands in her way.

This is easily one of the most entertaining dramas that have ever been and even people who don't speak Spanish can find something appealing here. Catalina's cartoonish evils are carried well on screen by Maria Rubio who acted this part so well that she was typecast forever as "Catalina Creel".

Spreading on 12 hours on 3 DVD's, this home video version concisely narrates the story well. But due to copyright issues and lack of licensing on Televisa's behalf, the original score is not on this DVD but rather a new one. Sometimes this proves to be a nuissance as the new score at times is louder than the dialogue and it drowns out some parts. This was my only complaint and Televisa should have really been a little more proffesional with this release.

Still, I am happy that a real classic of Latin American Television is finally available to be relived for so many people and newer generations who now can know the phenomena that was Cuna De Lobos.

WOW, i cant believe that Xenon pictures has done it again, after messing up la antorcha encendida, now CUNA DE LOBOS is the biggest disapointment. I am not talking about the wack music, this is BEYOND THAT! The dvd simply sucks. IT has a factory manufacturing problem. THE DVD is defected. Its weird, the first time i played disc 1, no problem, but on disc 2, side 2, the dvd started acting up, freezing up and stuff. Then, disc 3 seemed to be okay, but suddendly it also started freezing up. I removed it, and i put it back on, and it read "Error". I went back to disc 1, which was working fine, and all of a sudden it started messing up too. I took it to another dvd player and the same started happening. I ordered a new DVD, and guess what? the same thing happened again. I play my other dvds and i know its not my dvd player, because everything else is fine.

I think the Alter films version of Cuna de Lobos is okay, but the Xenon pictures version is really bad.

La instrumentacion y el tema de entrada estan cambiados por completo y esto arruina la novela sin poder disfrutarla como debe ser. Otra vez Televisa prefiere no pagar regalias a los compositores para poder usar la musica original en DVD y prefieren embolsarse todo el dinero ellos mismos. Televisa prefiere comprar nueva musica barata sin importarles que hayan arruinado la novela con tal de hacer unos pesos mas. La idea de tener la mejor telenovela que Mexico tenga en DVD suena bien, pero no esperen la misma novela transmititda por TV en los ochenta, por que no es la misma sin la musica original. Seria como ver "La guerra de las galaxias" sin la musica original y en vez musica barata que ni al caso!! Mejor guarden su dinero para otra novela en DVD que valga la pena tener en DVD.

This is one of the best Mexican stories ever done, the villian is real convincing and she kills like if was a hobbie, has also the tipical good vixen who does nothing but cry, also has an intriguing ending.

Es la mejor novela de suspenso que ha sido realizada, en esta materia Cuna de Lobos supera a las novelas brazileñas que son las mejores del mundo.

This series is actually super, but I have never witnessed a background music more horrible than this.

The background music in more than half of the movie becomes so loud that you cant hear what the actors are saying.

It is true as it is said in other reviews that this DVD collection has problems with the soundtrack music and the performance of the DVD's. If you saw Cuna de Lobos on TV when originally aired, you'll miss the original music, but the new one is not that bad. And there is a problem with the packaging. CD # 2 might get scratched inside the case, but it doesn't ruin the whole thing. The truth is that enjoying Catalina Creel's plots and conspiracies was worth the little problems with the discs, that I repeat, are not that bad.

Reading reviews about the telenovelas being released on DVD, the most common complaint is that the release is not the complete series, rather an edited version. Cuna De Lobos was 170 episodes when it originally aired. Even if you can get 4 episodes on a disc, that is 40 + discs. Televisa/Xenon won't do that. I personally don't mind the edited versions not so much as you get rid of the fluff/unneccesary scenes that drag out the novelas.
About this release, quality is excellent, storyline is outrageous, over the top wild (just how we like em), and the DVD's are put together well. I would like better if Televisa/Xenon would do as the Telemundo releases and formed new "episodes" to break up the DVD a little bit and take you back to the menu, instead of having a long 2.5 hour DVD. Makes it a little easier for viewing or finding where you left off, unless you leave the dvd in the player. It is like splicing together 4 episodes of Desperate Housewives with no break inbetween. But that is a minor complaint. I can deal with it.
I have read that the original music is not in this release, and an alternate soundtrack had to be used for the following reason: According to Televisa, this was due to a disagreement with Mexican actress and producer Carmen Salinas, who owns the music copyrights after her deceased son Pedro Plascencia Salinas, who produced the music of the novela.
The new music does give it an eerie feel, however a little repeatitive and too loud at times, but overall, appropriate. Excellent novela. Enjoy !
