I adore this book! It has touched me in many unexpected ways. At first I was able to flip through it and quickly find ideas that appealed to me..the simple format was easy to understand and effective for those times when my mind is just not able to delve deeper. I then went back to read, more fully, select sections and found them so inspiring! I decided I had to read the book from cover to cover and was not disappointed. I love the author's heart and find that her insights are fresh and Biblical and encouraging. It has depth and truth throughout that make it more than just an effective resource or a quick read.
There are many many organizations in this world who are trying to make a difference...and many ways for us to try to help. It can become overwhelming! Ms. Newman has done the research for us and has put practical, highly effective suggestions into one book. Not only that, she inspires us to look beyond ourselves and to live out the gospel.
p.s. It makes a really great gift! I have already purchased extra copies!

I'm always looking for practical, immediate put-to-use ideas that enable me and my family to love on the "least of these" more effectively! This books nails it!!! With everything from simple suggestions for your "toolkit" to deeper, more challenging ideas for families, individuals, and/or church groups that are ready to further the calling to care for the needy, the poor, the widowed, the orphaned, the lonely, etc...Cup of Cold Water has you covered!
There were many "Why haven't I thought of that before?" moments when reading Lorie Newman's suggestions. A great, quick read that will help to spur you into action!

I love this book and love having so many ideas in a compact place for future reference. I've already implemented a couple and haven't even finished the book. I purchased some Christian tracts to make "care packages" to keep in my car and I picked out my birthday gift on World Crafts Village website to benefit "a man or woman on the other side of the world." There's no way a person couldn't find at least 1 new idea for being the hands & feet of Christ!
