This compact little book is packed with scrumptious and easy to make recipes. (The version I received had a different cover photo.) Each recipe has a photo and if you follow the instructions they turn out just like the pictures. Decorating them is a snap - easy to make a plate for parties or gifts. Some of the cupcake recipes are: chocolate caramel, gluten free chocolate, hummingbird cake w coconut, lamington angel cakes, turkish delights, mochaccinos, apple custard teacakes, carrot w maple cream cheese, chocolate peppermint, passionfruit curd, banana caramel, chocolate coconut sponge, chocolate ginger with honeycomb cream, black forest cakes, choc/date/almond meringues. The cookie recipes include interesting shortbreads, snaps, florentines and macaroons. Two of my favorites are Peanut brittle cookies and Polenta & orange biscuits, YUM! Make the effort to find golden syrup if you want authentic Anzac biscuits - substituting honey, molasses, sugar or brown sugar will not yield the same results. You can make your own by making a a sugar syrup and adding a little lemon juice and in a pinch you can use light corn syrup. Light treacle, if you can find it is passable.
Look for more of the Australian Women's Weekly titles. They come and go on Amazon, but they are well priced for the quality of the content. They are 'real world' recipes that have been tested many times before publishing. They use everyday ingredients and will appeal to beginners or advanced cooks! |
