My Brother-in-Law gave my 10 year old daughter this book for Christmas. It actually was at least 1 year ago. Maybe Two. Kelly, now 11 and in the 6th grade was asked by her reading teacher to pick a book, read it, and then "Market" it to her class. Kelly, who had already finished 3 of the Harry Potter Books, and almost completeing her 4th edition knew which book she was going to use for her project. I was almost certain she would "challenge" herself to read the 5th Harry Potter book, but to my surprise she chose "Cupid's Secret". I had remembered the title, but couldn't quite put a place on the book. Finally, while Kelly was preparing her Report, she brought down the book. I immediately remembered this was a gift from her Uncle Pat, for Christmas. I vaguely remembered a story that he knew the author. We called Uncle Pat from Florida to Pennsylvania. He told us of the time around christmas where he had helped Buck Kalinowski while visiting his parents with a flat tire. I guess in a "thankful jesture", Mr. Kalinowski offered his book for thanks with the help. My Brother-in-law, Pat was quick to offer the book to our family. Our Kelly was very moved by the story, even a year or so after reading it. I believe the message was so powerful to her that she easily chose it for her report even after reading the top selling Harry Potter.
I am proud of my Kelly for chosing a book not known to so many as Harry Potter. She truely believes in this story and it's magic and believes in "big Heartedness". Thank God for that.

I have known the author for eight years and this book has opened a new side to the man I thought I knew so well. He wrote this book straight from his heart and did a great job. I believe this book is great for children of all ages as well as anyone who loves animals. The illustrations are realistic and depict the message that Buck Kalinowski portrays of his horses, Cupid and Arrow. This is a great book and I highly recommend getting your own copy.

One of the most heart warming books I have read. Being a true story makes this book so very special. I will be giving 10 very lucky children this book for Christmas and anticipate some good feed back. There are many learning tools for children written here, and done in an easy to read format. I highly recommend this book for just about every age.

I worked with Buck, the author, for several years helping him to promote his children's books. It wasn't a hard job because I knew the story of Cupid, the horse destined for the meat factory until Buck rescued her, and I knew that anyone who read the story would love it. I won't give the ending away, but the story is magical, moreso because it's a true one. But what I really want to add here is how much we were all surprised at how much adults loved this story as much as the kids. When we went on the road with the horses and books, I talked to hundreds of people who couldn't wait to tell us how much they enjoyed the book and to just talk about Cupid and their own experiences with horses. We used to have so many people cry when talking about the story that we added a box of tissues to our display permanently. I couldn't have had a better job than promoting Cupid's Secret because it sold itself, and it brought me much joy as well. And yes, these horses REALLY ARE real and you can visit them anytime in Wolcott, CT as well as the author, Buck. In fact, the horses were modeled as Breyer horses because the company who manufactured them were so impressed. Anyone who a collector of Breyer horses knows that not any horse can become a Breyer horse--most of them are movie characters, so you can imagine how thrilled everyone was that Breyer wanted to model Cupid and Arrow. Again, this book is a keeper, and that's a testimonial on behalf of the hundreds of people I met at the shows over the years. Keep writing Buck--I know you've got more stories to tell like Lovie's adventures and how we rescued Oliver the goat and Kitty whose ears were frozen off and Beau the champion who lost an eye.

Cupid's Secret is a wonderful book. It is filled with incredible emotion. I will read it again,recommend it and give it as gift's. Everyone needs to read this one no matter how old you are. You will never forget Cupid.

"where am i?" Thought a cold black cat. A snow storm was stirring and the poor cat was lost. Soon he found an open garage and headed for shelter from the cold. When the snow storm was over a human heard a sound. She went outside and there was the cat. She called her two neighbors who quickly came over. "look at him!" said Olivia one of the adults children. "Who's gonna get it?" she asked. "I'M A BOY!!!!! NOT AN IT!!!!" Was the cat's reply. "Look he's hungry." said the third neighbor worriedly. "WE can't have him with Codie." said Olivia's mom, Lisa. "but Marvin would scare it too death!" replied the human who found the cat. "AGAIN I'M A GUY!!!!!" said the cat. "Fine! Shamrock can't do too much damage." joked Kathy the third neighbor. So Kathy scooped up the cat and went home. At first Shamrock was unsure about the cat. But the cat had made up his mind and was spooked of the dog which he soon started to bat at. Then Kathy called her animal loving daughter, Megan who was at a freind's house and told her about the cat. Megan was home in the blink of an eye even though it was pretty dark. after a couple of weeks she and the cat who she named Raven began to bond. Since it was now march and Meg's birthday was in April Kathy declaired Raven her early birthday present. All of Raven's stuff was in Meg's room so he also slept on her bed. On Meg's birthday she got a shiny gold name tag for Raven. When Meg put it on Raven she had been petting him so his fur was ruffled but now they were in the light and Meg noticed his fur now had a brown tint. She steped out of the light and he was totally black again! "WOW! Raven you're magic!" Raven was flattered and started to purr. After many months this bond had grown stronger and best of all that cat with magic loved Meg over everyone else.

As a designer of promotional items for various companies as well as authors, I am constantly looking for stories and themes of interest. I picked up a copy of Cupid's Secret by Buck Kalinowski. While my intent was to develop promotional characters, I soon found myself caught up in the wonderful and true story of this amazing little horse. It is a heartfelt story of what love, trust, and a little determination can do. This book is a lesson in what can happen if you truly "believe"...a lesson that we all can benefit from. I recommend this book to any child or adult who would like to be inspired.

I just want to say that this book is a wonderful book. It truly speaks to the young and tells a beautiful story that is inspiring. I will definately recommend this book to all of my family and friends.
